Anyone Get "Cold" Called By a Book?

I signed up for an account with Heritage around the Super Bowl, figuring I'd give them a try. However, after signing up, I wasn't a fan of the interface so I didn't deposit. A couple days after signing up I got a voicemail from a rep at Heritage basically welcoming me and offering to answer any questions I may have and explain the deposit options/bonuses. I ignored it and thought nothing of it. However, today I got another call this afternoon (let it go to voicemail since I didn't recognize the number) and the voicemail was from the same rep at Heritage basically doing a followup seeing if I had an issue depositing and "reminding" me of the bonuses.

Just thought I'd ask if other people get "cold called" by books (I have an account, but they're not calling me for marketing purposes) and see if you mind when they do. I don't know what anyone's opinion might be, but the second call kinda annoyed me. They're the first book calling me and I don't need one calling me while I'm working unless I'm anticipating them to resolve an issue I reached out to them about. If I need any assistance with a deposit, I'll reach out to you, but now I'm having to take time out of work to check my phone and see it's a worthless call. Tempted to just go on the online chat and have my account closed since I don't need any books calling me out of the blue unless it's to tell me I won a million dollars and ask where to wire the money.

Most will call if you sign up and don’t deposit...it’s a sales job for them...I get calls too every so often out of blue from real crap books like oddsmaker with some huge Deposit bonus....I play with em a bit on phone then tell that I see on sbr that they suck and don’t pay...lol. What I really hate is the handicappers that call and leave messages or texts that is even worse...

they are all a business who's only source of income is if people deposit money. once football season ends people aren't flooding them with deposit requests so the head guy goes around his room and says " while you guys are sitting around doing nothing how about getting on the phones and getting our marks to make some deposits. promote the damn bonuses they all seem to want. offer to cut the rollover requirements if you have to but we need some cash flowing in here or none of us will get paid until next football season." you didn't like the heritage interface. it's not great but seems like a solid book to most. i got shilled by northbet.ag who has the worst interface of any of them and i deposited after or during the call by jerry.

Heritage will always call you when your account reaches $0.00

If you leave $0.01 in there... they won't call.

When I first started dipping my toes in sports betting, I at least had the foresight to use a burner number on what I thought may be a tout/handicapper when looking up picks because I figured they would try and call and sell picks. I'm just surprised Heritage is doing it. Do they need my business that bad?

That's why I put it in quotes; not exactly cold calling since I technically have an existing relationship with them by signing up for an account, but their only reason for calling me is essentially sales related (to get me to deposit).

I don't like getting calls either but I just take them and ask nicely to be put on their do not call list and have never had a problem being harassed.

I get at least 2 or 3 text messages a day from Australian books with bonus offers though. I put up with those as maybe once a week or so there is one I like.

I usually try to answer those calls and try to negotiate a better bonus... I rarely make a deposit as a result of the call though

Opti, what Aussie books have competitive odds on American sports? I've use Crownbet some and they are ok, others I've used have charged a lot of juice.

    Sorry for highjacking the thread

I don't know really. Betfair probably the best we can get locally I'd think. I use Crownbet the most, but that's mostly because they are the only one I know that offers all 3 NASCAR series, good F1 options, MotoGP, Indycar, Supercars. Plus I visit the Crown casino often enough to collect enough reward points to have bought a lot of freeplays. I use Ladbrokes too but they dont cover motorsport very well so not too interested in them. And Bet365.

But when playing normal American sports I look at 5Dimes, Betonline, Greek and Pinny the most still. I assume the Aussie books wont have the same odds 90% of the time.

Youwager, BetMania and Heritage all call me. Heritage calls are so stupid because they literally call and leave a voicemail telling me basically what games are running. No offers or bonuses.

Probably just a matter of time before this account is considered inactive and you are charged a fee. Then again they wouldn't call the owner of an inactive account, would they?

Youwager, Americas bookie, and betphoenix always call and leave voicemails. This is the only reason I keep my house phone to get these offers. I spend $50 a yr for the phone service through magic jack or similar.

I don't care, as long as it isn't abusive.

I get calls from Heritage occasionally, but I tend to keep the account funded most of the time as I like the book. Youwager and America's bookie are the ones who call frequently. Doesn't really bother me, good to see what offers they have when it is time to bonus whore again.

I'm not a bonus whore since I don't bet enough to meet the rollover requirements so maybe that's why I'm not as interested. But if they have an offer, I'd rather receive them by email anyway.

When I would get a text or call Id just block the number or one of those recording thingys those were super rare. Sports stations here have those scamdicapper recordings as their ads and the host will sometimes boast of the scamdicapper's record just reading what the scamdicapper, guess radio will do anything for a buck.

Once you start betting all 3 of the winter sports, sides and total, and golf ect., you clear the rollover quick. Also, if you scalp out between books, sometimes you don't have to clear the rollover at all.

I guess we both see it the same way. Good to know.
