    Sportsbook spoofing numbers

There is a particular A rated sportsbook that spoofs its number every time it calls me, so that it looks like its a local call. The problem is that I get 10 other spoofed number spam calls a day, so ignore this one, when I would normally listen to what bonuses they had .

It would be much easier if they just called and displayed their 1 800 number on the caller ID. I don't know why a legitimate company would act like scam artists.

You make a good point. If they have good offers I agree regualr players probably do want to hear them.

Although there is a good chance they think more people answering means more sales success.

You should email them and give your feedback about wanting to know its them and you will answer. Might not be a point of view they think about.

I knew it was them, because I got an email 3 minutes later. I responded with a similarly worded email.

They responded saying they will call with the toll free number in the future. Figured I'd post, maybe they would see it, so it gets solved.

As long as call are one a month or so, I don't really mind them, no need to try to trick me into answering.

Sirius Radio and many other reputable companies follow the same practice. Its not a 'scam artist' tactic .. it's just how smart telemarketing business is conducted. You're more likely to answer a local call to hear the sales pitch.

Agree to disagree on that one. That might have been true at one point, but when everyone does the same thing it loses its effect. Now I get multiple calls a day from my area code offering free cruises, solar panels, cheaper electricity and medical alert bracelets. Googling the number the sportsbook called me from, it was listed as a beauty supply store, a place that would have no business calling me. Pretending to be someone else when calling is a scam artist technique, don't care if Sirius radio does it, still a slimy technique.

    I dunno.

I don't get a lot of calls I dont expect or from numbers I dont know. So I am quite likely to let the call go to VM if I am busy at the time and dont recognize it.

Once upon a time I could not ignore a ringing phone but the world has changed and my default attitude is "will I answer this one" these days.

Although I also pine for the days we could walk out the house door or leave our desk and no one would think you are a jerk for not answering... just that you werent there!
