If anyone here has HBO really interesting part in their REAL SPORTS Show about sports betting and how hypocritical the NFL is with regard to all this....Put a team in the NFL in Vegas because of $$ yet still worried about the "integrity of the game". Chris Christie was on and pretty much said if there was a way the NFL could get a piece of the pie with regard to betting, they'd agree in a heart beat....many believe NJ will win their case because of the Las Vegas Team being there

West Virginia just put a bill on the table for online gambling (poker/slots etc..not sports) after it looks like PA will get this done.

My estimates have online poker as being a viable option once again for pro or semi pro sustainability......assuming PA joins the NJ, DE, NV player pools (which is enevitable as long as the bill passes in PA).

    Populations:

    NJ- 9 milion

    DE- 1 mil

    NV- 3 mil

    PA- 12.8 mil

NJ senator Ray Lesniak also has a tenative plan in place for joining pools with the UK (which would be the absolute nuts!)

The state of New Jersey and the United Kingdom have reached a tentative agreement to share their respective online gambling player pools, according to report from Global Gaming Business.
The UK is one of the oldest regulated online casino markets in the world. New Jersey has more than 90 percent of the regulated online gambling market in America.

why do you put pa as 12.8 mil but round the others off?

Oct 20, 2017 - However, this vast territory is very sparsely filled with Nevada's citizens and in fact, there are only eight states in the country that are less densely populated. The current population for Nevada in 2016 is estimated at 2,890,845, which is a sizeable increase from its 2.7 million population at the 2010 Census.

    The bill passed

The move came quickly after the legislature passed the gaming bill late last week, with the legalization and regulation of daily fantasy sports, sports betting and more also included. The bill Wolf signed was H 271. Wolf’s signature was the last step for the bill to become law.
Pennsylvania officially joins New Jersey, Nevada and Delaware with legal online gambling.

Don't think 25 million population is going to be enough for a decent player pool yet.

Australia has that population, loves gambling, and cannot support it's own online player pool. Not one company thinks it's viable to operate under the law here.

Nevada’s cash game poker market is on a five-month-long winning streak.
The state’s poker rooms raked $8.7 million from the games in September, according to figures released this week by gaming regulators. The amount was the best September for the rooms since the $8.9 million in revenue generated four years ago, according to data compiled by the University of Nevada Las Vegas’ Center for Gaming Research

There was literature in the bill for sports wagering and DFS but those have several federal hoops to jump through.....online poker and VR slots/table games is a state thing. PAPSA is a federal law

This sounds great until you realize maybe 1% of those populations are interested in online poker and even less will deposit more than once if they lose. Pro online poker players are a thing of the past and you’re nuts if you think these states will create an environment that can sustain anything other than a tax grab focusing on table games and slots. The only thing that will make online poker a realistic profession again is a national player pool and a sane tax structure. Neither is happening anytime soon.
