Betcris rounding errors on decimal odds. They are shorting us!

Response by SBR Moderator Optional: Their base unit is decimal.

So you could be saying that they always round up for American odds. Instead of saying they always round down for decimal.

But you are wrong anyway, they dont just always round down for either type. They round normally and it works out even for everyone in the long run, as their CS said.

Every book that offers Dec/US odds has this issue when converting btw.

    ------------------

I noticed recently that the odds provided by Betcris are different if you use decimal odds vs american odds.

for example i just checked an odd that was -152, which converts to 1.65789. if you enter a wager of $1000 the payout is $657.89 which it should be. However remove that from the cart, switch to decimal odds and enter the same $1000 at 1.65 and they round down the payout to $650.00 !!

Here is my first reply from betcris when i complained:

    Dear Customer,

    Thank you for contacting us.

Thank you for the suggestion It will be review by management however it works both ways when is rounded up or rounded down in some occasions it was rounded up to benefit you. Is better if you use the American odds instead.

Please feel free to contact us if you have any additional questions.

    Sincerely,
    Luke
However Luke was wrong. The odds are never rounded up only down, so they are keeping money on EVERY decimal transaction! And while most American's are used to working with American odds, i work in decimal, and shouldnt be forced to use an unfamiliar odds system to get the same price.

    I replied with the following:
Hi i compared some American vs Decimal odds on your site and they are all rounded down, never up.
    For example -122, $1000 pays $819.67
    Converting to 1.81 $1000 pays only $810

Please consider calculating decimal odds to 3 or more decimal places as other sites such as Pinnacle and 5Dimes do. Also BetOnline.ag displays 2 decimal points but still calculates the payout to 5 or more decimal points. It is not desirable to use American odds. Thanks, Randy
to which i received the following over a month ago:
    Dear Customer,
    Thank you for contacting us.
We will investigate on this query. Hopefully, we will have response soon.
Please feel free to contact us if you have any additional questions.
    Sincerely,
    Warren
Havent heard anything since and still have to use american odds on betcris as they are still rounding down the decimal odds.

    Noticed this myself as well:
    https://www.sportsbookreview.com/for...ican-odds.html

The rounding is always down, never up...so I simply started using the American odds and it fixed the "problem". Other bookies display the rounded down odds as well but calculate the payout to the correct American odds.

The fact that it supposedly "evens out" in the long run is simply not true because it is never rounded upwards...

^^^ again, their base unit is decimal, so if it appears that they always round up for American odds, then it's to the players advantage. Not something to complain about.

let me rephrase this then since i am "wrong". by betcris only using 2 decimal points, the payouts are lower using decimal odds than they are by using american odds. so until they fix it, if ever, we are forced to use american odds to get better odds.

Wrong. betonline.ag also displays decimal and us odds. Despite them only displaying 2 decimal places, their payouts are identical and accurate to 6 decimal places or more, whether using decimal or us odds.

So now using 2 decimal places is the reason "decimal always pays lower than US odds"? Have I got that correct? (GTF outa here with this stupidity please)

Whether they use 2 or 16 decimal places 1) they round correctly and 2) if they dont, as you claim, then they are giving the player an advantage by always rounding up for American odds.

Why do you have a problem with this? Does it affect you negatively or positively? Think about it.

what's your problem buddy? i'm just letting people know that if they use decimal odds they are getting short changed, regardless of the cause. do you dispute that?

does it affect me negatively or positively? It did affect me negatively until i realized the issue. Now it's affecting me positively since i switched to american odds. so again, i'm trying to tell people something that will help them positively.

do you dispute that if they used 3 decimal places like pinnacle or 5 dimes the payouts wouldnt be higher? what's going to pay out more 1.917 at pinnacle or 1.91 at betcris?
