    Why Pinnacle?

Pinnacle has for several years not serviced US customers.

So does anyone else find it odd that they put out messages such as the following referring only to a US timezone rather than say UTC?

Please be aware that due to essential maintenance work our website will be unavailable for 12 hours 30 minutes between the following times:- Maintenance Start: 9.30pm PDT*, April 3rd through 10am PDT*, April 4th, 2017. The Pinnacle website access will be suspended from 9.30pm PDT*, April 3rd and will reactivate by 6am PDT, April 4th 2017. Please note that the following key services will only be available three hours after the maintenance has been completed: • Depositing • Withdrawals • Payouts • Grading of wagers • KYC Upload and review. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

PDT isn't a US only time zone. Western Canada and parts of Mexico use it.

Ah! And the likely % of Pinnacle's customer base located in the western parts of Canada and Mexico might be?

I'd guess just due to historically using Pacific time as the server default.

Using GMT would not mean they were in UK.

I always set my servers to US time, working from Australia.

Perhaps when they eventually get that UK licence it will change?

You don't generally switch default time zones around on your server unless you really have to. Doesn't really matter and can only cause confusion having a day with effectively less/more than 24 hours in it on the change day.

Server default time surely isn't really the issue.
Putting out messages with times relevant to only a small segment of their userbase doesn't make a lot of sense to my way of thinking.

Is there no way for event start times to be adjusted to a user's timezone like on more advanced sites?

Actually you are right. It would make no difference what they used in email messages. They could create a routine to read each users timezone and write it into each email on the fly I guess. I wouldn't worry about doing that personally though.

That may be true but I'd think soccer would be right up there too. Personally I do more soccer business at Pinnacle than I do US sports.

But that really doesn't excuse it.

My current local time is 8:45 AM

Looking at the first NBA game today Pinnacle is showing it starts at 4:05 PM; Matchbook at 10:05 AM; The Greek at 10:05 AM; SBO at 10:00 AM and Betfair at 10:10 AM

    So who's out of step?

Perhaps but should be more in our timezeone than in the PDT timezone!

But again, that's not really relevant. If Matchbook, Greek, SBO and Betfair can display user times why can't Pinnacle?

User profile option or automatic for your location.

Pinnacle doesn't even offer that for odds type. One needs to elect for US or Decimal odds each session.

Hareeba, something in your settings must be wrong. Pinnacle.com does display the starting times of the game in the "user" time. So does Pinbet88. Only after the bets have been graded or in the "mybet" section are their server times shown.

Well that's what I'd have expected for sure. But I've checked for it in the past and now again and there are no such options under My Account / Personal Details so I have no idea where to look next. Perhaps I'd be best emailing Pinnacle.

Hareeba, for Pinbet88 go to "account" (next to announcements top right) then make sure your "display time" is set to local time.

For Pinnacle.com go to top right "more" then select "settings" and make sure your time zone is in your preferred zone.

    Thanks mate.
But I get a very different looking page when I'm on Pinnacle.com and there's no such option as appears in that link.

Try selecting "Asian view" instead of "classic view" or "beta" top right.

    Thanks Alfa!
I'd previously looked at those and not seen anything but now I find that Asian View does have those options. And, they were already set to my timezone.
But what I find is that if I revert to Classic View (my preference) they are ignored.
