The following occurrence this week is something I've suspected in the past but not been in a position previously to be 100% certain about.
I posted a ML bet on an MBL game asking for +185.
Nearing game time the bet had been only partially matched, so in the unmatched betslip I reduced my asking odds to +182.
Almost immediately the previously unmatched stake was matched.
Not just once but TWICE!
On alerting Matchbook via email I eventually got this response:
"Your wagers on this event have been thoroughly investigated by our Technical team and upper management and we are unable to see any technical fault that would have caused these bets to have been placed.
In light of this, we would like to remind you that all users of Matchbook.com are responsible for their own open offers on site. When revising your open offers, it is the users responsibility that your originally placed bet is not matched with another user on site prior to submitting your revised offer. Failure to do so will result in two or more bets being made."
Does that really make any sense?
If the original bet had been fully matched why would it still be in the unmatched betslip window where I was able to revise the odds?
Further, if it had been fully matched why were TWO bets matched at +182. Surely the first should have been at +185?
As I said, I've suspected this in the past but not noticed it until after reviewing settled bets and been left scratching my head as to how I'd managed duplicate bets. But this time I noticed it immediately.
A very dangerous situation and I think Matchbook need to do something to rectify it pronto.
Now, I'm sure I can't be the only one this has happened to. I'd like to hear from others who may have experienced it. Perhaps then Matchbook will take it more seriously.
