Cory Joseph prop ruled no action because he didn't start

I don't want to mention the book yet (generally they are great), but I bet Cory Johnson under 8.5 points on last night's game and it was ruled no action because he didn't start. He does not start. He is a bench player. Lowry is the starting PG. This book, like most books, has some bench player props listed for each team every night because it is the playoffs. Other books had the same Cory Joseph line and graded it a win. It was not a rogue or mis-priced line in any way.

I have no idea if it said "player must start" when I bet it. Even if it did, would that be material? Seems a book could list 5-6 bench players for each playoff game and essentially free roll the bettors by no actioning a players results after the game if the prop went bad for them. If a bunch of bench players are listed in props, even if they say "must start" in fine print, some people are gonna bet them figuring you can just ignore that (assuming they even notice the "must start", which I never saw).

I wrote to them and of course they said that if a line specifies he needs to start, then he needs to start. I doubt any more than 2 minutes thought was put into the reply.

Is this worth escalating to a manager?

A couple of other things to mention...

May 25th (previous game) I also bet his under. I bet under 8.5 pts at -130 and -140. Under contest notes it says "Must play for action." Those bets were graded wins.

So yesterday (May 27th) I bet under 8.5 -125. Under contest notes it says "Must start for action." I can see that now when I click on the bet ID. Of course I didn't notice it at the time and would have just assumed it was a typo anyway.

I could understand if I bet a starter and he didn't start and the "Must start for action" wording was there. But for a guy who is clearly a bench player, who has been up on their prop list each game of the series, should their mistake of putting "Must start for action" (surely accidental) mean all of the bets are no actioned? As I mentioned above, seems like a dangerous ruling.

Looking through more of my history again and this is kind of funny.

I lost this same bet at this book on May 19 (under 8.5 -125). I won this same bet on May 23 (under 8.5 -105). Both of those times it said "must play for action".

why would they even list the bet in the first place?

    I would argue it

That's my thinking. Clearly whoever labeled it "must start" did so by accident. He never starts. And the line is the same as they always have it.

If you would like to fill out a complaint form SBR can have a look at it for you http://www.sportsbookreview.com/sportsbook-complaint/

If it was mislabled then void is the 'correct' ruling technically though,

    Thank you.

So far I have only sent them one email. I am not thinking of submitting a complaint yet.

Regarding the 'correct' ruling... I understand if it says "player must start" it *should* be no actioned. But doesn't that default ruling open the door to books abusing this rule in bad faith? Imagine the following:

    - book lists bench player in props every game of series
    - after a few games they sneak in "must start" instead of "must play"
    - AFTER game is over they grade according to which outcome is better for them

Again, this is a great book and I am pretty certain this is not what happened. The point is that this ruling opens the door to abuse by the book. They have no reason to suddenly put his prop up there as "must start" with the exact same line as they used all series for "must play". I place so many damn bets, there is no way I am gonna catch that.

I decided I was just gonna move on but today while betting props I noticed something that really annoyed me. The props do not say "must start" or "must play" on the page where you bet them. And they do not say anything like that when the bet is confirmed. And they do not say that when you look at them in pending bets. You can only see these specifications when you go to pending bets and click on the ticket #. WTF? Now I can see it is just ridiculous that they cancelled this after the game was over and if they do not grade it a win I will open a complaint.
