I'm guessing this is due to the huge merger between Paddy Power and Betfair. Paddy Power closed to Canadians a few years ago as well.

Nah, I think its because of the upcoming merger with Paddy Power. Paddy Power closed to Canada in 2011.

Canada has some banking laws though and I think that's part of the reason as far as gambling

I knew paddy didn't accept Canadianas, but thought betfair would prevail.

I just started using betfair a couple weeks ago. That's disappointing.

This news really sucks. I was just starting to like Betfair. I wonder if Pinnacle will go next. I hope not. I understand why North Americans don't like all that money going offshore and disappearing, but why don't they come up with some local alternatives to replace them?

Betfair is rejecting my bank transfer withdrawal attempts without explanation.

Practically every detail they request to do bank transfers is listed as (optional) so what do they need?

Can Canadians withdraw to Neteller? It's the only other option listed for me.

Neteller website says Canadians can not 'transact' with gambling websites....

    EDIT: penetrate

Keep us updated on Canadian final cashouts.

Surprised Betfair would make this that difficult Krashman :\

Betdaq and matchbook don't accept Canadian players either, unfortunately. I'm scrambling trying to find an alternative ...

Received an explanation from them now.

I guess they rejected my withdrawal moments before they shut down for Christmas.

Some of the stuff they list as optional is mandatory, such as SWIFT code. So I looked up that info and I am re-submitting the bank transfer.

Got some pending bets in the sportsbook so will have to wait until they are cancelled to withdraw the whole balance in one go. Quite rude to not honour the sportsbook bets imo.
