    PayPal quietly re-enters online gaming

In the past few days, a few U.S. online gambling websites have started to accept PayPal—a first in more than a decade. Yet the payments company had been very quiet about it, initially releasing very limited information about the shift.

The two screen shots below are from just this past week, showing that PayPal is brand new to the sites, including WSOP.com and DerbyGames.com. Caesars Interactive Entertainment (CIE) is the owner of WSOP.com, while Derby Games is a start-up offering regulated online gambling in the U.S., primarily horse race betting.

All fun and games until Paypal suddenly freezes your account for 6+ months because it's against their actual policy.

Paypal has never had a problem with legal US gambling. They will not send money to a shady offshore sportsbook however.

After transferring 9k in gambling profits form PayPal to my bank account, PP sends me this disturbing e-mail:

We like to keep things safe and secure, including your PayPal account. To do this, we regularly check the activity on our customers' accounts.

We're not sure you're aware but it appears the My Cash has been used for deposits to your PayPal account, and then those deposits have been withdrawn.

The PayPal My Cash feature is for making deposits to your PayPal account for retail purchases.

If we continue to see this activity of using the PayPal My Cash with your PayPal account for cash withdrawals, we may have to limit or close your PayPal account.

If you think we've made an error, here's how to contact us.

    1. Log in to your PayPal account.
    2. Click Contact Us at the bottom of the page.
    3. Click Send us under Email Us.
    4. Follow the instructions to complete the steps.
We value your business and appreciate your attention to this matter.

    Thank you for your time.

    Sincerely,
    Lisa

At least they gave you a warning instead of freezing your account. I've been using this method also but haven't hit the 9k mark yet.

I'm pretty sure PayPal was either bought out by new investors? Or... wanted to break the contract with Ebay? Regardless... Ebay was the one that never wanted to merge with a company that was "apparently" moving money illegally in the US.

Don't really have a clue as to why PayPal would try this? They know it's illegal in the US.

But if PayPal moves money to Pinnacle... sign me up.

This from the same firm that used to freeze accounts merely for having the words "football" or "ffl" in a payment e-mail. No joke. They're lunatics. And the main jack-off who was in charge of Paypal's anti-gambling investigations now works for Coinbase, doing the same thing.

Never felt comfortable using PayPal, and always have issues with a temporary hold on my account that seems to happen over and over again forcing me to call to have it unblocked
