    Matchbook locked account for "investigation"

    Greetings,

I was aware of some players, that had their accounts locked at matchbook, but still used them because of their low commission for bets and before 3 days same happened to me. In last 30 days i won more than 10.000 euros with them, made some small withdrawals and everything seemed to be fine, but suddenly, without any warning they just locked my account. I am unable to log in, withdraw my funds or do any activity with Matchbook. I contacted them by email, their answer was:

    "Dear ********,

    Thank you for contacting us.

We are unable to comment on this at present. Our Risk and Compliance Department will be in contact with you in due course.

We apologize for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your cooperation in this matter.

If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact us."

As i read some cases of other players, this "investigation" can be going for weeks or even months, they are just wasting time. So i asked for a help from SBR.

About my betting style at matchbook:
Mostly my bets was in-play on tennis and cricket. I opened account at matchbook last year, but started to use them more actively when they implanted betting through Geeks Toy (software for sport traders at Betfair, Betdaq and Matchbook) For that time my betting style didn't changed, i did not abused anyone, just made a bets on money that was offered in the market. I'm not coursider, i didn't had data feed advantage of whatever they call it, for live results used 3rd bookmarkers services available for everyone (williamhill, bet365, betfair mostly). At last week i increased my stakes and won more than average, this maybe scared matchbook so they decided to take actions against me and lock down my account. I must add, that i trade in-play with Betfair in same manner, i am premium charge payer there, but never ever had so unpleasant experience as i have now with Matchbook.

As previously stated, i had some withdrawals from them, mostly 1000-2000 euros, my account is fully verified. Matchbook is betting exchange, but acts like simple bookmaker..

Warning for everyone- if you are a winning sports trader and you want to increase stakes at matchbook, consider doing this elsewhere, while your account is still not locked and not under "investigation" as some kind of criminal.

Will update, when receive any news from matchbook. I hope they have self respect at least to pay my balance.

I didn't realize that Geeks Toy worked with Matchbook. I'll have to give it a try.

Do you think the 'trouble' stemmed in any way from using Geeks Toy?

Geeks Toy gave opportunity to make a faster betting at matchbook. Matchbook market makers sometimes don't follow the real market prices, so people bet on better odds, if looking from this perspective- yes, faster betting via Geeks Toy did made negative impact on my account.

Matchbook should solve their problems with slow market making instead of banning players.

Hmm Thats frustrating if GT just works too well for their market makers. Bit of a catch22 for Matchbook too.

Hopefully they work out a way around the problem instead of just banning you. Sounds like an interesting case.

It's interesting for me also, what they are planning to do.. At Geeks Toy forum there are already 2 people (not counting me), that complained about their locked accounts. Increasing money matching time is one of solutions, that could save their reputation, but it might scare some players..

Let's hope Matchbbook comes with the best possible solution.

Matchbook do need to decide if they are an exchange or a sportsbook.

Rule number 1 of an exchange: Trades should never be cancelled.
Rule 2: Never assume you have the best advantage or fastest stream etc

Matchbook has far less liquidity than Betfair. To attract new customers they are forced to use own traders, who act as regular customers and provide liquidity . From 10K you have won with them 90% are their own money, and of course they do not like it.

It is a common problem for all exchanges, except Betfair.

It is a problem for Betfair as well. Their solution was Premium Charge.

    "Dear ********,

The Risk and Compliance team have concluded the investigation on the betting behaviour on your account.

Therefore your account has been re-activated. Please be advised that your account will be monitored going forward.

    Kind Regards,

    Matchbook Customer Support
    "

So account is unlocked, funds withdrawn, but i couldn't bet in same manner as before, as from now i am under magnifying glass..
Well, can't complain. It's money of Matchbook that i won. There are no bookmaker, who would be happy with constant winners.

    Now back to Betfair..

Also i want to thank SBR forum, even there was no need to solve my case, as Matchbook came up with reasonable decision, but publicity always helps.

I'll try to be more active here and share my experience, that could be useful for punters.

Have they spelt out for you the nature of your behaviour of which they disapprove?
