    Moneybookers December Woes.....

Just a heads up for those who use Moneybookers to withdraw funds to their bank accounts.....

Just got off the phone with a representative whom states that basically withdrawal wait times are double what they usually are. This applies only to customers with accounts in US dollars, as MB apparently had some sort of processing issue with their US banks.

Don't know what the hell all that means, but he's right about the delay as for the second time this month I'm into a long waiting period. For example, my withdrawal request from December 21st was supposedly just processed today and the funds "should" be in my account by early next week..."Should": I despise that word.

Anyway, if you're waiting longer than usual, then apparently this is why.....

Checks seem to be the more efficent way to go lately, if you don't mind being treated like Osama Bin Laden's next in command whenever you try to deposit them.

Perhaps it is this time of the year (Holiday period) but in any case 8-9 days delay is not great but not the end of the world.

Yup, I agree UV, but it's 8 business days now even with the Holiday Period. But yes, it could be worse. Being Canadian, at least I still have the Moneybookers option for the forseeable future.....

Stumper, While I most often request a wire transfer to my TD USD account I've also tried requesting a cheque from moneybookers and it has taken less than 5 days from their bank in NYC to my door in Toronto. I always deposit at the Atm, and never have any problems.

Sound advice Plommer. I'm going to start going that route, as both yourself and cobra_king have reported positive experiences using checks rather than wires.....

    Twice the normal delay?

I haven't needed to withdraw from them for some time but it's always only been next working day at worst so I wouldn't be worried if that was now 2 days directly into my bank account.

Certainly won't be asking for a cheque as that would take best part of a week to arrive, then the bank will charge a fee for a foreign cheque deposit and worst of all will freeze the funds for at least a month to ensure the cheque clears!

I received my withdraw the week before Christmas in the normal timespan. A USD Moneybookers account, but they always convert into GBP before depositing into my UK Bank Account.

Funds arrived earlier today after 8 business days.....

Hareeba, I've only cashed MB checks a few times, but they've cleared instantly. Guess it depends on the bank one uses.

I have found work arounds but have always used wires and experienced no problems, but I don't take money out of sportsbooks into my own account very often.
