Bovada Lost $1 million Last Night

Just saw that Bovada lost $1 million last night because all 10 underdogs won at UFC Fight Night 61. Not sure if that's a big amount for them or not. Can't be good tho.

That's nuts. But I think if you actually played that and won, you'd get stiffed.

i used bovada once that was when it was called bodog, and i loved it they had great lines and u could parlay anything, but then i started winning and they told me to take my action else where, they aren't looking for people to bet big they want small time bettors

Great book for "Dog" players - they always shade the lines toward the favorite. But you're right about $ lines. and if they get a lot of play on a lower $ line, say -165, the will cross it out on the site. Don't see that anywhere else...

After a night of nearly all upsets for UFC Fight Night in Brazil Sunday, sportsbooks are licking their wounds, according to ESPN.

Frank Mir defeated Antonio Silva during the main event, marking the 10th upset win of the event and forcing sportsbook Bovada to payout nearly $1 million in losses.
"We had at least a dozen of these bets that paid out $10,000 or more," Bovada sportsbook manager Kevin Bradley said.
Underdogs for the fight were going off at 10-1 and as a result, parlay bets produced large payouts. One bet saw a $4 all-underdog parlay pay $85,000 while another had four $1 parlays that paid $25,000 each , according to Bradley.

"We take in so much more money on the NFL or the NBA that when you have these types of parlay winners, it's hard to hurt [our business]," Bradley said. "With UFC, this will be hard to come back from."
Bradley doesn't think the sportsbook will being seeing that money coming back in anytime soon.
"We're not getting this money back from the people that won," Bradley said. "The type of bettor that wins these bets throws a small amount of money on all the favorites or all the underdogs to try to get rich. Well, I guess it worked."

I think you could make more if it was an open parlay though. No way they'd be paying someone $1,000,000 if they would have done it. Could have been very interesting to see how it unfolded

I hate when 5 dimes on inplay live wont put up money lines. Maybe they've finally figured out they were giving away too much free money but I used to do well on that.

I had a system on NBA games where I'd look in the 1st half to see who had the big lead, then wait for the other team to make a run in the 2nd half. After they make a big run, hope that 5Dimes will put out that ML during the break in the action and jump on it. Nowadays if the spread of the game is 10+ they hardly ever put out a ML.
