Hello,
Today (23/12/09) I received the following e-mail from Stryyke 4 days after a winning bet was settled.

"Dear Stryyker,

Unfortunately we had to cancel your bet on Spanish Football “FC Sevilla ### CF Getafe”, due to a high suspicious bet progress. Your stake was credited back to Stryyke account. We apologize for the inconveniences.

With kind regards

Stryyke Service Team"

Here is a summary of events regarding the bet in question;

1. 13th December - I placed the bet on Getafe to beat Sevilla (staked 30 euros), bet won
2. 13th December - I placed another bet on Sevilla to beat Getafe 3-2 (staked 13.50 euros), bet lost
3. 19th December - Getafe won the match, Stryyke settled same day, bet winnings subsequently credited to my account
4. 23rd December - Stryyke inform me via e-mail that the bet has been cancelled due to "high suspicious bet progress" and subsequently remove bet winnings (219 euros)

I placed the same bet with another notable UK bookmaker who unlike Stryyke didn't cancel.

I haven't filed an official complaint with the bookmaker yet because I wanted to seek advice from this forum before taking further action.

Do I have any rights, i.e. is there anything I can do to force Stryyke to return my winnings?

As far as I'm aware Stryyke are regulated by the LGA - should I contact them directly?

Are Stryyke acting unethically, i.e. they've effectively stolen 219 euros from me?

You might find it useful to read this thread. It might be worthwhile sending a PM to the user "strykkedimitrios".
The thread, though should make it clear that Strykke has severe financial problems and will thus look for any excuse not to pay.

I've sent a polite e-mail to their CS disputing the matter and will let you all know of the outcome.

They are really acting so unprofessional. Probably the know more things than UEFA and they know that the game was fixed
But what do you expect when the management is an amateur thief guy that has no idea about gambling.
Anyway, read the thread here in sportsbookreview, try to take your money and run away (but very far away) from this scam bookie.

Suffice to say this will be my last transaction with them unless the dispute can be resolved to my advantage. I wasn't acting on an arbitrage opportunity but instead felt that the selection was a value bet that had a realistic chance of a successful outcome. I feel conned although I'll wait to see what they have to say.

it's really difficult that they give you back the money.. the bookies use their T&C to protect from situations like this.. and so it becomes very dificult for players to discuss any problem with them...
Probably they have a topic on the T&C that says that the bookie doesnt have to explain why they void a bet.. as the customers agree to the terms.. they can't discuss anymore...

The T&C of this company has not updated for a long time and they even say old stuff there. Generelly, you find value bets because there are too less people to follow the odds and they forget to adjust odds if necessary. Then they lose money and the will say i.e that the final of Champions League was a suspicious game.

Ive had the exact same email on the exact same game and i would imagine many others too.
Ive also sent them an email asking for an explaination from them but i doubt i will get a reply.

So any ideas as to whats the best course of action to at least have a go at getting the money back.

There is nothing that you can do
Just run away from that bookie and do not ever deposit not even 1 Euro. You will get your money very difficult if you from the lucky people, if they will bankrupt in the meanwhile.

Btw, ask Stryykedimitrios to prove that this game was suspsicious? why? because they lost much money. thats all!!!

Strykke is not (yet) blacklisted, because whilst they have been very slow in paying there are no confirmed cases of them not paying out eventually.

They have an SBR rating of D+ which according to SBR means:

Strykkedimitrios is the username on this forum of a current Strykke employee. He has helped a few posters here to get their funds (albeit we can guess about the reasons for doing so).

Basically, they dont have a case with this cancelled bet - but getting their decision overturned and money restored and withdrawn from your account is no easy matter.
