    who here plays on betfair?

So I have an account for a longtime and never went into their sports book as I always use the exchange .
    that being said.
Is there anyone here who has had success in the sports book they now offer and what input they can give?

Seems like it cant be accessed in some markets at the mo, and apparently if you are v successful in the exchange or do well..

They are very quick to limit you on the sportsbook.. As they would do i suppose, would be morons not to take notice of sharps on the exchange given they have all the info at hand.

In Australia we don't have the sportsbook available.

We do have fixed odds on most metropolitan racing though.

I use Betfair exchange extensively for Australian horse racing and a little for UK. Not so much for sport any more. Mostly lower English leagues soccer and golf.

I have to be honest with you NBA on betfair is great the swings are huge , when the bench goes in and go on a little run the line goes crazy on the exchange it is a great way to make money, should give it a try you will find yourself nicely surprised.

Decent promos every now and again.

Odds are worse than the exchange, so cant see why anyone would use them (apart for taking promos)

Quick to limit... the email they send suggests you are more suited to their exchange product

nba is the best @betfair, the market isn't suspended, and as u mentioned big swings in scores. The nhl has no in play liquidity at all, i would have thought it would be more popular with canadians and swedes

I used the Sportsbook once to place a higher end three digit bet and was immediately limited to single digit stakes after that.

the exchange in nba is the real deal with good available markets. scrubs go in , in the game, ten or twelve point run exchange goes crazy can make 100 bets in one game and see green green green.

what if, say, you laid cleveland for 200 @ 2.0

then cleveland go on a tear and never ever go back above 2.0 and just get lower and lower.

how can you "Make" money on this game.

Cricket is an extremely popular sport so its no real surprise an IPL match gets a lot of activity given the population of India alone

They do. And they bet massively on cricket.
In fact Indian punters are the reason given to me by Betfair for the stupidity of their rule that limited overs games are voided in the event of a tie instead of settling based on the official result.

Been using Betfair (I am European) for 10 years now. Short recap of my experiences and what I heard from friends who are pro punters with the Betfair Exchange.

Pro's - Unbeatable if you are a trader in any sport. Unbeatable for the big leagues when it comes to volume on the big markets. Also good for recreational punters since you know you will get 1 tic 'worse off odds' at the very worst case scenario.

Con's - List is longer than I got time for. The insane Premium Charge is perhaps ok to hit the Horse Racing and Tennis Traders that 'Are the market', I can argue for that. But anyone who is a bit better than average will hit the Premium Charge sooner or later (yes, exceptions are there). It only takes a net profit of around $30k to be in for a 20% Betfair extra charge per week. Yes, calculations are blablabla so in reality those 20% ain't 20%, but still. And if you hit around $200k up on the account for a lifetime, its 50% charge on net winnings.... You better find a friend who you can trust, and start all over.
Betfair's IT-personnel is below market average. Way below... The site is too often untrustable and D-Dos attacks today for 6 hours kept the site down for most people (not all for some reason, so some shrewd people could easily pick up free money and nothing you can do about it). If it is a big horse racing day, site has for sure be treated with extreme caution'.

Still, Betfair is a must for anyone who can access it, after all the money is 100% safe, you got the volumes, the markets, everything 'happens there'.
