    bet365

    Hello,

Bet365 is asking me to send my picture with my ID proof but nowhere it was written in terms and conditions that, they can ask personal photographs. Is this legal and according to gambling commission authorised?

It is not a standard requirement but books regularly ask people to take a photo holding your passport next to your face as a higher form of verification.

I don't know the gambling commission stance on it for certain, but believe they would uphold Bet365's right to ask for it.

Bet365 has the right to ask for id
Just so you can prove who you say you are

Although this is needed every time you sign up they do checks
Via electrol roll, etc to see if you can be identified that way

I would never play at a book not asking for ID

    It means a fraud book

According to gambling commission verification should be done before using account and deposting the money so there is no fraud at all. They are asking for personal pictures which is not at all okay for me.

Andrew B has joined this chat.
You are now chatting with Andrew B.
Andrew B Hello, welcome to bet365 live chat. How may I help you? Please include your four-digit security number if you
want to talk about something specific to your account.
gyanu Hello! I am looking to join you.
gyanu Can you explain me procedure?
Andrew B Would you like to know about our verification procedure?
    gyanu Yes everything
Andrew B KYC (Know Your Customer) is the verification procedure we use to ensure that we are able to positively
identify our customers to comply with both regulatory requirements and help ensure the security of accounts.
Andrew B There are a number of standard identity checks we may conduct in order to facilitate and help you pass the
KYC checks. In addition to any automated checks that we may conduct, there are some checks you are able to assist
us with and these are very quick and easy to complete.
Andrew B There are certain restrictions on transactions until KYC identity checks are met; one of those is to temporarily
put any withdrawal request on hold.
gyanu What documents you need ?
Andrew B We accept the following forms of ID to verify your identity:
    - Passport
    - Driving Licence
    - Birth Certificate
    - Residency Permits and Visas
    - PAN Cards.
gyanu I just have pan card and passort.
Andrew B Yes, we accept either passport or PAN card. Once you have opened an account with us then you will receive
a pop up if we do need to complete KYC verification on your account.
gyanu Okay. If i send my passport. Is it enough to verify my identity?
Andrew B Yes, this should hopefully be enough to complete the process. However if we do require any further
information we will then e-mail you.
gyanu You ask for personal photographs?
Andrew B We would just ask for a photograph or scanned copy of your ID.
    gyanu Okay.
    gyanu Thank you.
    Andrew B You're welcome.
gyanu can you send me this chat via email please
Andrew B Is there anything else I can help you with today?
gyanu can you send me this chat via email please
    Andrew B Yes no problem.
gyanu please send it to gyanu.tamang@rediffmail.com
Andrew B Yes a transcript of this will be send to your e-mail once the chat has ended.
    gyanu yes.. thanks you.
    gyanu you can end it.
Andrew B Thank you for contacting bet365 Live Chat today.
Andrew B has now left this chat.

Gambling Commission must not be doing their job then. As I doubt anyone could name you a single bookmaker in the world that asks for ID before allowing you to deposit.

take a good quality pic of your DL, or passport with your phone. I used an iphone, hit send on email, and was verified quickly.

If you ever play any form of online poker standard procedure on alll sites including pokerstars...

If you're not scamming, easy process. If you are scamming this is the reason they do this.

dont think they actually mean a picture of you, although this is becoming popular with other small time new books but i think bet365 just mean scan them a copy of your drivers license/passport etc.

exactly my thoughts. your photo in your passport (not just photo separately), where you personal data can be seen. scanned documents sometimes asked by other books.

First of all thanks to SBR for blocking me here so I that I cant post anything. Just to clarify, please see the response which I am mentioning below:

    Paul Cr
: I have spoken to our verification department for you and am able to confirm for you that in order to proceed with your account we require you to send in two forms of photo ID from you . These need to be pictures of you holding Your photo identification.

It clearly stats that I need to hold my ID proof. Anyways, SBR, if you are not able to help or reply my emails then simply reply that you cant help me. Its fine. There is no force. I am just taking advice that is this liable. I have already sent my ID proof with my face holding my ID proof and still they are asking more and more which does not seems to be fair to me. So its fine. SBR bye thanks for nothing. You can block me again.

one way or another i hope we see a resolution in this case. it's not good to have this hanging over bet365's head, not good to have this hanging over the customer's head. if it turns out to be fraud, then so be it, player shouldn't have gone against the book's tos. but from the sounds of it, the player has sent in everything that bet365 has asked, so not sure why they are giving him such a hard time. hopefully sbr will let him keep posting so we can get to the bottom of this.
