To all my fellow canadians trying to get money in and out of bookies.

What's up guys. Good old days of having that 10 second deposit/payout option with skrill is gone. US is at 1.10 vs CAD which is starting to be very annoying. It seems like the last way to get money in/out of bookies is by wire. I don't know for you guys but I hate transferring directly from my bank account to a bookie as I feel like I'll get flag. I do gamble in a responsible manner but I know they can't really filter out habits. I don't know if I'm a little nuts (because nothing of this is confirmed) but I do not feel like gambling my credit score.

After two weeks of comparing all my options, I think I have found the best way for us (canadians) to stay anonymous while enjoying payout/cashout in a timely manner without getting rape by conversion fees.

I'm still in the process of completing a full iteration of my attempt so I will keep this post updated.

Step 1 - Get a darn US account. Stop getting wreck by your bank with the conversion fees. If you never took the time to calculate your fees Here's how they look like :

Scenario : You want to get 1000 USD to your favorite sportsbook.

At the time of writing this post, it will cost you 1102$ CAD (1.10). However, most bank will charge around 2.25% to 2.75%. That equal to a flat 27.55 CAD (average 2.5% on 1102$). The moment you deposit, it's like if you double the fees because if you every cashout... you have to convert it back. Since nobody really cashout if he/she doesn't make a profit, you will have to pay a minimum of another 27.55$. Then most bank have a wire transfer fee. Mine is 15 CAD.

To recap, if you want 1000$ usd to you favorite bookie, it will cost you a minimum of 70.10 CAD in fees + 100$ because CAD sux.

Step 2 - Open an Ec0payz account. Not everyone know what Ec0payz is. Your bookie doesn't have to support Ec0payz, only mast3rcard. The way it works is that you load money into the account and then you create (free) a virtual mast3rcard that is good for a 1 time transaction. You load money from your account to your mast3rcard and pay for whatever that card is worth. The max transaction is only 1000$ but you can create 5 cards per day. Each card can have a different currency so that's pretty badass imo.

Step 3 - Wire money from your bank to Ec0payz. That's how you keep it anonymous. All they know is that you transfer money to Ecopayz which is basically prepaid virtual cards.

Step 4 - Load money to your fav. bookie whenever funds are available.

Step 5 - Payout time! You went on a good run, got that 1000$ deposit to 6000$ and you want to cash that out. This step is a little tricky depending on what you want to do with the money. Just look at what the bookie offers. Most of them have check/wire. Some of them (like bookmaker) support the payout with Ec0Payz.

Hope that helps some of you. I decided to post that because I saw several post on Canadians having trouble depositing money.

If you are a winning Canadian player this is a very good thing! I am making 10% on withdrawals back to CAD.

I've looked into Ecopayz and e n t r o p ay , they both seem like decent options, but it seems most books only offer one or the other, or neither at all, which is a bit annoying.

I'm just worried that books are backing away from companies like Instadebit for legal reasons, meaning that we could have NO e-wallets available to us in the future if other companies follow suit.

I hear ya bro. The fees are killer, at entro it is 4.95% plus the exchange . Makes me want to go with proline, on the point spread you only need to bet 2 games. Another advantage is getting paid instantly in cash. Of course lines are terrible, especially here in ontario

I agree, I think the demise of the e-wallet method is imminent.

But what legal reasons do you suspect, are you aware of a change coming in the laws?

My theory is that books are dumping e-Wallets due to costs forced on the book.

E-wallets advertise as free or low cost, and charge the book for the transactions.

Whereas P 2 P options such as W U etc charge fees to the customer, and although many books offer to reimburse those fees, I suspect most gamblers out there don't bother to request that reimbursement.

    #1 : f*ck harper. Don't vote for this fagg0t.
His huge C18 bill is scaring everyone. It doesn't address (as far as I know) gambling directly. However it will affect any canadian depositing money to tax heaven. Since most books are there it's a gray area. Until bill pass/reject we need to wait.

Yes!!! That's true. The "example" I gave was actually me. I made 6600$ USD. However I want to transfer to a new bookie to get some sign up bonus. When I was doing the math on payout/deposit the fees it was scaring me off!!

Entr0payz SUCKS. you will pay 4.95% fees on CC deposit and 3.95% on bank transfer. I don't even know how that sh1t is legal.

I think new laws are going to come out, there is a very detailed section in the new budget on anti-moneylaundering very similar to the US which is going to make it very tricky for books to continue to deal in Canada. As well as a vote is about to take place on Bill C-290 which would legalize the straight bet in Canada. I'm sure they are working to eliminate all their competition before this happens.

Uhm...we are in Canada. Why not just use a good online book that lets you deposit and withdraw in CAD funds? Problem solved right? Also, use Instadebit, it's the best.

Well the best way to minimize fees was to have a USD denominated account with USA routing number so you incur no conversion fees until necessary not to mention you could skirt e-wallet risk too. Usually USA accounts in Canada are really CAD routing accounts that convert to USD every deposit/withdrawal. So you would have to go to BkofAma at a border town or do RBC Centura (gone) but best was TD USD accounts available in canada that offered USA routing.

Now it's just much tougher to get accounts in states without a valid reason and they are scrutinized. I know I've been booted from TD /RBC in the last couple of years for gambling transactions. Also had **** card closed once which was annoying. Stuck with scotiabank now. Cad environment is going to become USA light in a few years IMO but I hope not. Proline offers a few +EV bets but they are pretty worthless due to limit constraints. If you want to see the worst bookmaker in the world go to lotoquebec because MISOJEU is complete shit.

Even if they legalize straight bet in Canada it all depends on the juice they charge. If it's run by the provincial lotteries it's going to be crap. -130/-130 on ATS likely

I can meet you at that card club just over the Mercier bridge any time and
hook you up with the guys.

I know other places in the city, but wouldn't be wise to mention them here.

The only potential problem I see here is that every book I have played at will only let you withdraw your funds to the same credit-card you have deposited with, leaving you no other options to get your money out. So lets say you wanted to withdraw $5000. You would have to withdraw $1000 to each of the 5 separate virtual cards you deposited with right ?
