    Heritage Sports - Pathetic practice/policy/procedure & SBR's pathetic response

I have a serious gambling problem. I informed Heritage in April of 2012 that I needed my account to be closed in light of this. I informed them of my chapter 7 and multiple suicide attempts...and gambling was the root of othese problems.

    Here's the response I received:

    ------------------------------
    "Hello xxxxxx,

We have sent your information for the next update to close the account. We are unable to refund any transaction you have done in your account.

    Wishing you a good day!"

    -----------------------

Well, Nearly 2 years later I have lost 10's of thousands of dollars to Heritage. I know many (if not all) will say that it's my own fault for continuing to play. I agree, but the sole reason of having my account closed was because my addiction was uncontrollable. I played at 2 other books. I made the same request of them. I went as far as begging Bodog to reopen my account and they said ABSOLUTELY NOT.

Heritage advertises the "Responsible Gaming" initiative on their website. Are they not obligated to close accounts when these problems are disclosed? I just spoke with a supervisor that told me that they do not close accounts, the player must wait for a period of several months and it will be automatically closed.

So, I asked SBR if they could help me. We all know Heritage is a sponsor, so they won't get any bad press. SBR's response? "We suggest you change your password and then throw it away".

    Pathetic.

That's actually a pretty good suggestion. I know in this day and age its pretty easy to want someone else to shoulder the responsibility and while they should have closed it and who knows for what reasons they didnt the burden of responsibility should ultimately fall to you. Just out of curiosity, how many times after initial request did you ask to have the account closed?

Get help, go to meetings, whatever. I'd honestly add stay away from gambling message boards as well but that is just me.

7 times in writing via emails and their internal messaging system.

I am getting help, and my account is finally closed. I don't want this to happen to anyone else. When a customer discloses a gambling problem, the account should be immediately closed. I did a quick check at other top rated books, and this is the case at every one. 5dimes, bookmaker, DSI, bodog, betonline and a few others. In fact, some of their licenses require them to immediately close the account or face stiff penalties & fines.

For all the people who praise Heritage as a great book, the truth is slowly coming out. They are now:

    1. banning winning players

    2. cold calling players

    3. refusing to close someone's account that asked many times to have it done

    Great book....for losing players

While I wish you luck with your addiction, you need to take some responsibilities for your own actions instead of blaming Heritage. You could change your password and lose it. You could ask your funding method to be shut down. You could stay off of gambling forums. But let's blame Heritage.

Point here is that Heritage only exists, I mean ONLY exists because of the fact that they target guys like the op.

They are a loser only book. Sure, they have a some winners they cater to that do not get booted. But if you beat them over and over again, and especially at prop wagers. You get booted. They only want losers. They will continue to bait the losers as well. Keep them coming back until they are bankrupt.

This is not anything new. Before BetJam closed, they were square central. BetJam actually forced them to carry winning players. However, in the end they all eventually got booted. Losers only book.

Winning gamblers get their accounts closed overnight. Lets not overlook that fact. They could throw the op a bone and allow him to attempt to live.

i own a business - i get to choose who i do business with. how nice it would be to call every book tell them i have a problem and close my account. then play everywhere that lets me so when i lose i can claim i should get my money back because i told them to close the account earlier. the op has a problem. i'm sorry his does wish he didn't. but it is not Heritage's fault. i think he tried to take a shot at the book and now it is not working out like he thought.

So true. Had my limits slashed after I win a couple bets on the Heisman to $100 on props/futures. Apparently, that was too much because I got another email from them recently that is was slashed from $100 to $50. Haven't head of one payout issue so that's awesome, but if you are anything but a complete square, they will cut you off.

I was told that props/futures are offered as a bonus to their players, they are meant to be taken advantage of. WHAT? Books like 5dimes keeps a close eye on their props/futures and change the lines quick enough where they make money, players who know what they're doing make money, and everybody wins. Heritage on the other hand lets their props/futures sit there for hours and hours with no line change. Then, they blame the player who does nothing more than staying within the limits THEY set up. Joke.

OP, got a (theoretical) question for you if you're up to answering.

If tomorrow all offshore books everywhere disappeared, if Vegas shut down, if all bookies went legit..in other words, if there was absolutely no one anywhere for you to bet with...
Would you be OK? Is it realy just gambling on sports or whatever you bet on the real problem? If there were absolutely no gambling anywhere, any how, any way, would you then be able to go to work, live cleanly, and live a productive happy life? Or would you find some other alternative to satiate your gambling crave? Is it really "gambling" that's your problem?

You posted this same thing in January. I don't think posting it multiple times is going to make thousands appear.

It's a shitty situation for sure but there is nobody to blame but yourself. It's a harsh life lesson for sure though and no reason to kick you while you're down.

Do tobacco companies ban you from purchasing cigarettes even after you've been diagnosed with cancer?

Do liquor stores ban you from purchasing because you're an alcoholic?

Get real people ......sportsbooks are businesses. Heritage provides you a service by taking your bet and pay up when you win with no questions asked. They've done their deed as a business. A degenerate gambler asking them to ban him then comes back saying he should get all his money back is just laughable.

You need to stop making these retarded as shit threads and just man up and let it go. By you constantly visiting gambling forums, this just shows that you really don't want to quit and still have a problem.

So is part of your getting help, whining and blaming other for your problem. Doesn’t seem very healthy. As for the same posters constantly airing the same grievances in every thread. I would venture to guess most were closed for various reasons other than winning. I got no problem with a book that has a low tolerance for BS and or complaining. Its there business to do as they wish. If I was in the there shoes Id probably do the same. They don’t pay me, we have an issue. They don’t want my business, I’ll play elsewhere. Its pretty easy. I was transferred over 3 yrs. ago, rarely have an issue that isn't handled in a way I can live with.</SPAN>

How do you deposit? If it is p2p call the places and asked for your name to be flagged. Yeah you could send it under a fake name, but eventually you'll lose a deposit .

Still for these places with responsible gaming badges, books and here, it is a sham. Not that we just found this out.

Maybe someone else mentioned this, possibly call them, hope you get a female phone rep, give them your account info and name, then say something really sexually perverted. Repeat doing it. That, or keep requesting p2p names and call back with fake #'s.

These are just examples of things that may speed up your account getting closed. Not targeting Heritage here, rather thinking of things he could do.
