Regular (Bovada) vs Professional (Bookmaker) sportsbooks

I noticed that some books are marked as better for Regular players and some are marked as better for Professional or Serious players. Can anyone explain to me what makes Bovada a sportsbook for regular players and Bookmaker a sportsbook for Professional/Serious players?

I've been using Bookmaker since September and have enjoyed it. Just curious as the reasoning behind these designations. I'm certainly not a professional, but I am taking it very seriously.

    Thanks

Pro books are generally they are slower to limit. Will have higher limits in general.

Bovada hangs rec level lines and if "pros" come in and bet them for any amount worth mentioning on said soft lines they will be limited or shown the door.

Bovada is a square book, if you like dogs their the best book out their. However they will limit you if you continously beat them. Bookmaker on the other hand much higher limits and I hear they won't limit you.

Like most have said, one book allows winners and the other doesn't. Plain and simple. Especially if you know what you are doing prop wise, bovada will show you the door very quickly.

I'm really just getting started and my bankroll is very small as I'm trying to get the hang of things before placing "real" money in play. From what you are all saying, it sounds like, given my small bet amounts and propensity to fade the public, I might be better off with Bovada than Bookmaker at this moment due to line equities.

    Very interesting

Maybe I'll put some money over there and see the difference.

    Thanks for the information

if you have a small bankroll stay away from bookmaker simply because they don't have free payouts. if your a small timer those fees add up when making a withdrawl. I've probably paid over 1k in withdrawal fees in Betdsi last year due to them not having free payouts. Those fees really add up

If you are a "fade the public" and small player, bovada is definitely for you. You'll get the best dog lines there as they take mostly square action. If you get to the point where you are a bigger player, you might have issues but for now Bovada makes sense for you.

Good point about the fees. Although the DC option isn't terrible.

You need to get the DC. You get a free $2,500 payout every month.

Fading the public is the dumbest thing in the history of sports betting. You will go broke fading the public, I guarantee it. Sure bets against the public win at times, but its because the play was the better side, not because the pubic was on the other side. I can give you example after example this year in the NFL where I was on the public side and wo. If you're not making informed picks, you're going to go broke

Worst thing abt Bo is u will get the "other" lines if u are successful at all. Late to post lines also, but for small timers and getting your feet wet they are perfect.

You got aways to go, but if get big time u will be limited/delayed even by Cris. Only way to avoid that is Pinny/Match.

I think this statement comes close to the dumbest thing.
    An absurd generalisation.
Of course betting against EVERY favourite will send you broke quicker than backing every favourite but I know from long experience that identifying false and over-bet favourites can be a very rewarding strategy indeed.
