What is better? A Local bookie or the shores?

I've never dealt with a local before. I just wanted to know your opinions.

    A local all day, everyday...

But you can't go wrong with some offshore books(bookmaker, 5dimes, etc)

online ALL DAY i hate "owing" someone money at least when you lose online your done with it since its up forward. If you hit big in a day you can get the money right away instead of waiting till the end of the week with a local. You get limited quicker with a local since most of them dont get the volume of an off shore.

if you are serious about gambling you gotta move to either vegas nevada or nassau bahamas.

    yes 5dimes is the best.

    betus is the worst.

    Heritage is a good book.

they have high limits and they are reliable to pay you.

however they don't have as many betting options as 5dimes.

i havent used heritage in a few years so maybe they improved that. Also not sure if they offer many live betting options but my biggest beef with 5dimes is their lack of live betting options.

5dimes seems to only allow live betting on nationally telivised games.

there have been so many times i wish i could have hedged live on the last leg of a parlay.

i almost feel like sometimes 5dimes knows i have a parlay going and individually disallows me from live betting that particular game

I have to lean toward the Online Sportbooks. I was ripped off by both at one point but at least online if it is a reliable book you can get Free Plays and bonuses you normally would not get otherwise.

Locals are a coin toss. I've had a couple stiff me for a few bucks and 1 that I've had for 3+ Years without a hitch. Online as long as you stick to reputable books and play by the rules you'll get paid, sometimes verification can be a hassle but send them what they want and your good.

Depends on big your action is to him. You kick someones ass bad enough they are not going to be happy. But they'll suck it up and pay you if they are good for cash. Some guys will go for a beer or lunch with you, all depends who your dealing with.

Some guys you meet at their hangout and have a drink. Some guys you just drop off or pick up an envelope at a bar or restaurant. Other guys you jump in a car for 1 minute for small talk. There are even guys who deposit in people's accounts. These are a few of a dozen ways. Usually you are meeting a runner and not the bookie anyway. It is never awkward, why would it be awkward?

Local bookies and moving to Nevada may be doable for some, but for many that's impossible or impractical. You can't live bet with a local bookie or in Vegas as far as I know. You can't line shop like you can if you have accounts with multiple online bookmakers. And you have to pick up the telephone and make a phone call to some dude and give him your wager verbally. What is this, 1958?

You can live bet with local bookies. Every decent local has the same online capabilities as a typical offshore. I make 100 bets in a row before ever making a phone bet. Online is same with locals or off shores.
Also of course you can line shop, just have multiple bookies like you have multiple offshores. Some local agents even work for 2-3 books and you can have 2-3 accts with different places one settle figure every week.

Online Is the way to go, local's give credit and it is predatory lending. I actually tried to post up and was set up with a 5K credit limit, I also only tried to post a dime and was told keep it you pay when you lose. they use software you use online. not taking deposits is dumb.

Local bookie you risk getting beat up.
Off shore you risk not getting paid.

I suggest you put money in a jar and bet against it. Trust me, eventually you'd come out ahead of all of us here.

Interesting you guys say that they're using technology now. I never met a local bookie in my life, but then again I don't hang out in sports bars and I'm not sure how popular sports gambling is here in South Florida. I also don't know if any of them take MMA action or just popular sports like NFL, NBA ,MLB etc.
