    Caliente in TJ

Anybody been to the Caliente sportsbook right over the border from San Diego lately? Thinking about making a trip down there soon and curious to get some feedback from someone who has been recently.

    Safe? Good lines?

Haven't been to the TJ one, I've been to the Caliente book in Rocky Point, lines usually towards the favorite, so if you play dogs you can get 1/2 point here and there.

They do charge some tax on winning tickets, around 8-10%, first time I was like what the f$ck that ain't right as they paid me. So be aware of that .

If you use American Dollars you will get paid in American Dollars, that was one if my fears as I didn't need 4k of pesos.

Usually a guard with a shotgun guarding the place.

    Good Luck!

Good info, thanks. That 8-10% tax might be enough to keep me from trying it. That's pretty steep.

i went to the one in Cabo .. the book is kinda joke as far as looks go.. but i was smart enough to go to their website and get the rotation numbers for what i wanted.. and everything worked out.. went 3-3 on the night and that was my only action they got from me for the 5 days i was there..

the book didn't have boards or anything.. everything was printed out like the sheets you get in vegas..

Thanks for the info fellas. Anybody else? As of now I'm leaning towards not taking the risk.

I will recommend it, l live in San Diego and go there all the time, and if you are worrie about the 8,10% don't be, cause as long as win l don't care l also have an offshore account and those fuckers charge me a fee every time I make a withdrawal is the same thing, at least at caliente you get your money right away

I haven't been there in over ten years but it but nothing to be afraid of. I live in Las Vegas and there are worse place in downtown than Caliente. It's not glamorous or anything. it's like the old Leroys sports sportsbooks used to be. Just make your bet your bet and move on. They don't encourage the bettors to hang around.

Actually the waiters don't mind if you hang out and order food and drinks all night..... no gamblers means no tips.
