    ID verification nonsense

    what do you guys think:

a sportsbook (sbr sponsor with B+ rating) is asking to have a picture of you holding your ID next to your face taken for additional verification purposes (on top of a scanned id, utility bill and a screenshot of ewallet transaction)

is it acceptable or totally undignifying?

    your opinions please...

That seems above and beyond. They must have really been burned by identity theft in the past.

It is not uncommon, specially if the picture ID provided looks like a scan of a scan or something that could be doctored or altered. Now days with camera phones everywhere those requests "above and beyond" can be done in seconds.

Demeaning, I'd take a pic of you flipping them off and then cancel your account. As a player, you deserve better.

Books look for any and all excuses to delay payouts especially on cc deposits. One place (which I had been a loyal customer for 8 or so months) offered a 20 day hold and when I asked if they could do better, I got a condescending and totally unwarranted reply basically telling me 'when we decide to break our rules just for you, we'll let you know.' Even though another manager at that SAME book offered me a 12 day hold on a similar deposit a couple months prior.

I'm not made of money but I got more than enough in my checking account to cover a simple $200 deposit. When a book charges my card, my money is gone instantly. It's not a credit company's money lent to me, it's mine from a job I bust my ass at standing long hours for a measly $82,152.34 a year before taxes. I know damn well they don't have to wait 20 days to get that money from whatever 3rd party processor they use. A week, sure, 10 days...OK, sure..... but 20 days?

    I'm seriously considering going local.

This is not normal! I can understand when sportbooks ask for documents. But photo of my self?! There is no any reason for witch I mast give photo of my self to any one! Bet365 few years ago block $1000 at my account and ago request photo of my self holding ID. I dont sent to them this. I sent only my documents and tell to bet365 that photo of my self is my personal life and I dont agree when open account sent my photos, I only agree give my documents. From few days bet365 unlock my account and I withdraw my money.

This is not legal move by sportbook, the reason is rules to witch you agree when open account. There is no any info at sportbook rules that they can request photo of him self from customer. Rules tell that you mast provide documents that is normal. All sportbook can do and all customer can do is in the rules page! Customer can not do something that is not under rules!

I think I'm missing the point. "A picture of himself?" but isnt himself the one on the picture ID? what is the big deal?

Other than make sure you did not pick up the ID from some homeless guy, a person who left his rented apartment and forgot to change his address on the state's vehicle registry, a guy who lost his wallet and finally attached a couple of images on the internet from fairly common and standard utility bills.

You make it sound like the end of the world, you already gave them cash with no guarantees, send them some IDs and personal info and now you are getting touchy for a picture which you probably have like 20 drinking and partying on your facebook page for anyone to see.

I like money and if they need that to get MY money, just do it.

I've never understood why people complain about this stuff. You are sending them your picture on your ID anyway, why can't you have a picture of yourself next to another picture of yourself?
Agree it sucks, but if this is the only loop they make you jump through to get your money then you shouldn't be that upset, unless of course you did not use your ID.

It's just an extra step tto. It's not the end of the world, it's just a hassle.

Also, for those that are stating you don't get the same hassles when using p2p, that's not true in my experience. I still had to verify using the same protocol as when I use to, a long time ago, use a card.

One of the interesting interactions that I had with a CS rep from Legends recently, involved what happened to sensitive information after it was used to verify my account. The rep indicated at first that the information was protected. I mentioned that the most elite institutions around the world get hacked into on a regular basis. Again, I asked how they could ensure me that my information was protected and I asked why they don't just delete everything/ shred it right after verifying an account. The rep seemed to fold and remarked, "yes sir, we delete your information after it is used to verify."

Who knows what the real story is.

Exactly. Some of the required procedure is about security. Another part is about discouraging players from withdrawing.

    Another interesting tidbit about Legends.

Legends chargers nearly 100% more than the actual cost to receive a p2p withdrawl. A CS rep explained to me that the reason for this is because of the third party they use. I'm sorry, but other books do not lose money on processing these sorts of requests and they charge a fraction of what Legends charges.

You can beat the book--maybe, but you can't jump through the hoops unscathed in order to get paid.

you sound like an employee from a sportsbook or someone who would bend over at anyone's request.

anyway, why did pinnacle never ask me for that, provided i used exactly the same id, payment method etc.?

Because Pinnacle didn't feel it was necessary. These other books do not want to pay out, so they will do a lot to get you to keep your money in their longer. Every new book I sign up with I ask for verification forms and submit immediately following my deposit, and get something in writing that says I am cleared for withdrawal.

I know this is late and issue is resolved but I need 20 posts to PM. There may have been issues with your id even though it was scanned that they came across. Thes days with the internet its rather easy to confirm if a drivers licence is legit. Not sure what id you sent but maybe it was different then others they received (Ie some states card color changes in Quebec drivers was always blue now its white) if you sent an old card very close to expiration date it could be a flag as older cards are easier to alter. If the scan looked photoshopped or any type of discrepancie is another reason. Remeber they see 100s of scans a day so one little thing off there trained eye will catch it. Also if in the last few days they received registration from a few people and things look similar they will go back and look at all docs and get more suspicious and look deeper to see if your linked with one of them. If you were already linked with another acct then yes they will ask for your life scanned.
