Bet a bad line in books favor and won bet.

Made a wager this morning on a tennis match. I took a player +1.5 Sets. It paid out +250.

I ended up winning the bet. Here's the issue.

The match closed at around -2000 for the favorite to win. The line for +1.5 sets on the underdog should have been closer to like +800. I wouldn't be surprised if the book would have canceled bets on anyone who played the favorite at -300 -1.5 sets if it had won. Because a 20-1 favorite is HIGHLY likely to win in straight sets. This is 100% a bad line.

I get it, I'm an idiot. I dunno why I didn't notice why the odds were so low.

Is there an precedence in a case like this? I'm thinking if I bring it up to the book they will either laugh at me, or cancel the bet altogether. At end of day my funds were at risk, and I think I deserve to be paid the true odds. If I had lost I wouldn't have been paid anything. I wasn't taking any shot at all.

    Thoughts?

I can't think of any book that would pay true odds.

But they'd happily take a shot at all the people who took a bad line, and then cancel bet if it wins . Classy.

If you would have lost you probable would call them and say its a bad line error but now that it wins you want the true odds. Come on man...you know exactly what you were doing.

You're joking right? There is no way in hell they would cancel the bet if I waited until after the match to call them, that's ludicrous. To suggest I was taking a shot at them in any way by betting the wrong side of a bad line is crazy.

Chances are they cancel the wager on you citing their bad line policy. How the fukk do you end up betting a bad line in the book's favour?

Other scenario to consider of course is if they did pay you, someone could intentionally freeroll them for bad lines... they want to have a monopoly on that play. :-)

Thats what happens if you try to penetrate a book and it doesnt go your way. Eye for an eye. There probable just going to void all those bets.

I don't feel like what I did could ever be taking a shot at the book. Put my funds on the line. I think the fair and honest thing to do would be to pay the true odds. This wouldn't open them up to shot takers at all. They aren't going to have people lining up at their doors playing bad lines and I've been a fair and honest long time loyal customer to them. I was hoping like Justin or someone from SBR would chime in!

Now it is starting to get ridiculous. You really need to accept that you were willing to bet the option at the odds that were proposed to you. I agree with you that books shouldn't be able to cancel anything that resembles a sane line and that they do use the bad line rule to their advantage on occasion. However an employee inadvertently posting a bad line and you making a conscious decision to accept odds that were proposed to you are two different situations entirely.

Put it this way someone could just pick bad lines in the books favor and if they are losing big call them during the match/game and say its bad line error. If it wins you want the true odds??? How is that not penetrating a book over. You essential pick your winners and losers. Books are just going to void all those bets so this situation never happens.

I don't really think it is ridiculous compared to what some other guys come on this board with, but okay. I make hundreds of bets with this company a month for much larger amounts. I just think it's the fair thing to do to pay the true odds, especially considering the amount of money I bet they raked in by taking a free shot at all the money that came in on Fed -1.5 sets. The amount of money in this case is peanuts. I was never trying to take a shot. I've never tried to take a shot at this book I've been in business with them for years and years.

I know for a fact it does not work that way at this book. They do not refund bets after the outcome is determined.

In fact no book will, are you kidding me. They don't allow this because they will say you are taking a shot at them.
