Dreams Come True: Theater Room Finished Courtesy of 5dimes

Dad told me to get my toys before I have kids. Used nothing but winnings from 5Dimes and have just finished my basement theater room. Need to thank friend from RC Willey for the discounts and wiring everything. Need to thank some unemployed hispanics for helping me to soundproof the room.

Disclaimer...the toiletpaper roll is a necessity. Between cleaning up after myself and crying because of this amazing feat, I go through one of these a day.

just sports...over 9k into this room. Working on my poker room and want another 3k. In utah, most homes have pretty good sized basements and I almost have more square footage in the basement than upstairs. Won't show pics of wife's craft room, which 5dimes also sadly helped to contribute to. A dime on the sewing machine alone.

After poker room, I will be putting winnings towards a GTO or 66-68 mopar...whichever I can find that's a better deal and cleaner.

    congrats

    is it in the basement?

i ask because even though it doesn't get milwaukee-type cold at night there, when i was house shopping quite a few of them had movie-theater stuff in the basement and they were colder than actual movie theaters!

plus one of my dysfunctions is over-analysis and i didn't want to pay 10k for a movie experience when i figured i could go to 100 movies a year for 10 years for that price

Awesome, pal. First class set up you got there.

By the way, I want you to know you're more than welcome to drop my name around town if it can help you score some better deals. You know.....with me being basically Mormon royalty and all.

With all of the equipment I have running in this room, it gets damn hot. Room is insulated and I even bought a sound-proof door so that I can do my thing without annoying the wife and neighbors.

I grew up poor and this has always been a dream of mine to have someday. You should see some of the theater rooms guys I know have. Can't imagine how much they dropped into them. Opie probably knows.

I might do this when trying to negotiate for a classic car. I know a lot of old timers here are mormon and this might really help. Will be in debt to you if it works.

I have a room set up like this in my basement. All walls fully insulated. I'm in Michigan... and the ground gets cold as hell. When the plasma is running and the amps for the surround sound... warms up the basement comfortably. Just sucks for the first hour of watching programming. Kind of on the chilly side.

Projector...can't believe the technology that is out there...1080p.

    Mike,

I will probably be guilty of this too, though I tell myself now that I won't. Use to earn money as a kid so that I would have decent school clothes for the year. Mom always refused government help because she was too proud. We only received help because people at our church knew how rough things were and would drop stuff off while we were in service. Hope I can be balanced as a parent and not overdo it.

nice. Yea technology has come along way. I've been thinking about making one of my empty rooms to a home theater room and been checking out some projectors. Which one did u get?

I don't post very many plays....every once in a while.... Truthfully, I don't like the idea of having others follow... Too much pressure for my liking.

    Looks pretty sweet down there.

I think one of the tricks to any type of gambling is to pull the winnings out when you hit your goal. Sure, you're going to deposit x amount per month and chalk that up to entertainment costs. But when you hit it big, grab something like this you dreamed of. You can go back to your normal unit and try to do it again. Most guys who have the streak of a lifetime and all that means is their bet size is the highest its ever been. It never comes home... its just a number until the deposit is gone. Good job HigherElement
