Internet providers in Thailand are banned from connecting to gambling web sites.

When I vacationed there in 2006 and 2007 I remoted into a server in the US and bet from there.

There are many people who play online poker for a living in Thailand. There is a way around it, however internet connections there are generally spotty.

Yes can bet from Thailand with next to no restrictions on which sites are available. Most the Asian bookies support direct bank deposits that can be done online or at an ATM. Ex: 188bet, Dafabet, M88. Pinnacle, Bet365, Ladbrokes many others offer betting in Baht (Pinnacle and Ladbrokes have Thai language site too). Available banking options include Entr0 pay, web money, eco card. Thai debit cards work at many sites, can also of course use ** and ** as well. Is also agents as well for cash transactions for ibc, sbo, pinnacle, eastern dynasty etc. Mostly old info on net connections - but still a problem on the some islands and coasts. However areas that didn't even have internet period now have high speed cable. It goes out from time to time but real issue. In fact an area that didn't even have power in the hills just 5-years ago has high speed internet too. The governments all into this and giving all kids a tablet soon, and working to get high speed mobile nationwide.

All forms of gambling are illegal in Thailand but, you would never in counter any problems. There are no restrictions from Internet service providers. Internet service is quality in all of the developed areas. Bank accounts are easy to set up on Phuket, they are trickier to set up in other parts of the country though, from what I have heard. Getting a thai drivers licence is easy. The only draw back is the time difference if you are betting U.S. sports. You will be forced to keep a crack head schedule or should I say "yaba" head schedule to bet U.S. sports.

So we've got one poster saying you can't access online sportsbooks without using a VPN, another poster saying you can access any site you want, and a third poster saying that it is technically illegal but you can still access any site you want.

Can we clear this up? Is it possible to live in Thailand but still bet at all the major American books? Are there other countries (China, Japan, Vietnam, Australia, India) that have restrictions or hoops to jump through?

Mainland China is the only country that I have heard of blocking access to gambling websites, but they also block non gaming sites as well. VPN's are required for many things. Gambling in every form is 100% technically illegal in Thailand, but I highly, highly doubt there has ever been a single farong to get busted for betting on their computer.

I'm not concerned about getting busted, I'm more worried about my access to the sites being blocked.

Some sites are blocked, BetOnline and SIA are two blocked the most often. It's done at IP level so doesn't last. if blocked can use VPN. Most the sites actually used here are rarely ever blocked.

I've been living in Thailand since the end of 1995 and it is definitely possible to wager from Thailand. It is, as previously stated, definitely illegal but it is highly unlikely you will be sought out like in the US, for example. Internet is far from spotty in Bangkok. My internet speed is quite good, reliable, and it rarely drops off.

As far as wagering, I have accounts with about 7 or 8 of the A rated books and while I was checking some odds I stumbled on to this topic. I do have an account at Pinnacle but it takes Hotspot or Tor to be able to get to the page. There are sites that do not show up but there are ways around everything, especially when big money is involved. Of course many of the sites now use .ag or .eu but you can always wager over the phone (VoiceIP) in a pinch. The problem is getting the money to the books and getting it from them. I just signed up for Neteller and haven't used it yet but I do know that my Thai debit cards will not work to fund it. That means a bank transfer. I transfer money by wire often and always need to show some document that coincides with the necessity to make a transfer.

I can't remember which book it was, but I remember ** declining to make my transfer to either William Hill or Stan James a few years ago. Bodog currently has no method of deposit or withdrawal for Thailand. Moneybookers stopped allowing Thai exchanges for a while, now they do, however there is a paragraph stating the account can not be used to transfer money to sportsbooks; at least in Thailand and a few other countries. So it's not always easy to get the money in and out if you want it or need it but like every problem, there is usually a solution. But you definitely can gamble online, albeit illegally, in Thailand.

I was using a proxy to log in to Pinnacle, had several tabs opened, thought nothing of it and logged in to Neteller. My account was locked and I had to call in to have it unlocked. When logging in to Neteller, apparently you can not be doing so through a proxy.

I would like to know, however, if anyone has successfully used a bank transfer from inside Thailand to fund their Neteller account. I emailed them about 12 hours ago asking if this was possible and have yet to hear back from them.

I did see however, that they may have local banks in certain countries where you can simply make a transfer. Books having bank accounts in countries they service could be helpful.

I assume you're using an address outside Thailand. Neteller hasn't allowed Thai account for many years, might even of been before UIGEA. Regarding B-dog as of last month P2P works fine.

Re: DC. it's expensive with the fees but Thai debit works with Entr0pay. you can then turnaround and use it most sites. You can also get a DC from them mail to Thai and access at ATM. There are cheaper methods too at various sites and free ones (ex: most all asian bookies + betfa1r + p1nnacle) and near free one (ex: BetCR*S).

Also not sure how it works in krung thep (bkk) but in Isaan can buy cards for a major Asian bookie through most noodle vendors or tuk tuk (anywhere lotto can be played without tickets). Unfortunately no english spoken but if can speak thai they at least know who to call to get funded at F88 (though limits are small) from there agent connections can be made.

No, I'm using a Thai address with Neteller. They now do allow Thai accounts.

With ********, which bank is your DC(s) from that you are using? I have Bangkok Bank, Kasikorn, and SCB and none of them worked. I will try again shortly, for like I said, I got an error message from Neteller stating their system had an error. But then I got a message saying that "my card(s) were declined, they have sufficient funds, but it was possibly declined due to gaming restrictions." Also, I am waiting for their DC to arrive. I used to just use my CC, bank transfer, **, or Moneybookers. Not quite as easy as it used to be.

After 18 years in the country, I do speak Thai so that's not a problem. Read it too, and write it a bit.

I would really prefer not to use an Asian bookie, instead staying with the books I have used for years. I only use A and B+ rated books and hopefully it'll stay that way.

Okay wow, I see Neteller announcement from February they launched Thailand service, will need to look at that.

For Entr0Pay Be1st debit from Bangkok Bank works but need to complete the verified by **** process each time otherwise declines. Not sure if it is still running but in the past Betfair had a refund all fees for Thai via this method, so can use them get cash out cheap and then load most anywhere with same card.

wmtransfer (web money) is another option but need to find load cards. However is good for cashing out quick from Pinnacle and then depositing elsewhere it's accepted. u kash also possible.

Ladbrokes over phone (charges fee) but many thai debit cards work with them too.

For Bodog maybe they are not offering P2P to US now either? In past this always worked fine, I mean for many many years.

At CRIS (Non-US bookmaker) A+, can use entr0 deposit. Then can get DC from them too direct for withdrawal. I have no idea the exchange rate, because can use it for regular USD purchase like a DC and cost $2.00 a pop.

Is a way to make most sites work.

I have a Be1st card and a Be1st Smart card, just tried them and neither worked. It's the VbV so of course I needed to enter the necessary data but this has been set up for quite some time. I did, after trying each card 2 or 3 X, get an email asking for copies of the cards, but I don't think this is the reason why it didn't go thru. If I remember correctly, these cards didn't work once before when I tried paying a book so they probably won't work now. I have tried other cards, SCB and Kbank, neither of those worked. My Thai AMEX Platinum didn't work either. So...perhaps a bank transfer will work. Hopefully the payment processors won't be blacklisted, that would suck. If I have to I'll find another way to pay for the virtual card. I haven't seen any pre-paid ************ here in Thailand but then again, I haven't looked. Don't supposed I can use a ********** from the US?

I'm trying to spread a little more money between my accounts and I need a cash infusion since I've been idle for a while and took out a nice chunk when I took a break.

And BTW - Netellers customer service could use a fire underneath their ass.

None of the debit cards work with ******** or *******. That's a shame. My guess is that if they cards are declined, a bank transfer will be declined as well. They've both ignored my questions, as has Neteller, about the Thai banks allowing transfers. I really would prefer not to use the P2P. Placing wagers and earning money from it is hard enough without wondering if I'll be allowed to make a withdrawal or deposit. Pain in the arse.

I assume for bank transfers, unless online banking or ATM payments are supported (doubtful) you need to walk into the bank and make a wire transfer. If you have a job here or paid tax on what's brought in otherwise this isn't much worry. However even citizens and permanent residents are drilled regarding remitting funds out of Thailand. I'm not sure what the censored is in your above post, but my family is all thai and a lot of them gamblers. it works with entr0 and skrill I'm 100% certain. The problem might be, are your cards activated for foreign currency transactions? This would be why they get declined. All you need to do is register them once with Verified by V, or Master Secure C and foreign currency transaction should automatically get added (how it works in most countries anyways). Again, know 100% for certain will work with those methods as long as card has right features set up. For ECO and C2Pay doesn't work no matter what. Neteller not sure, is new.
