why are you posting a 6 month old article? Bitcoin has survived and is thriving.

The hacks and problems described in the article were not with bitcoin the protocol itself, but exchanges and other user problems.

Open your eyes...bitcoin is a very viable way to bet sports without the money transfer nightmare. Sure, getting them is hard (actually, it's much easier now than last year - you can deposit cash in any major bank and get them in an hour via bitinstant.com) but using them, so easy, and not subject to any central authority be it company or govt.

See the other bitcoin threads and you will see it is being used, and works.

I took the bitcoin plunge last week, gotta say I am pissed I didn't do it earlier. It is so very easy to do and moving money around feels like the old Neteller days - pretty sweet when you can transfer btc directly from book to book instantly. And if you are worried about btc's price the answer is pretty simple, just convert your btcs to cash periodically, only keep an amount of btcs in your book(s) that you feel comfortable - transferring is so simple, easy and low cost (mostly NO cost) that you can actually be defensive if you choose to be. Only problem is that there aren't too many btc sportsbooks out there, but I'd keep an eye on btcsportsmatch ... their no-vig pinnacle lines can't be beat. People bitch and moan about not having options, especially as Americans - well here's one you should at least do some homework on.

Try bitinstant.com - you can deposit cash into any major bank (they will give you the details, you don't have to have an account there) and have bitcoin in about an hour.

What book do you use? Btcsportsbet is the only one I've used. Not enough options for me.

btcsportsbet and btcsportsmatch - sure, the options are limited but I don't bet props or anything crazy anyway, so I don't really notice what is missing. Plus they are the oldest and seem to have the most trust in the btc community.

This might be a good place to remind anyone you can browse the internet anonymously using the deepweb through TOR

All payouts are automated, instant, and free in my experience - have taken hundreds of them from btcsportsbet and btcsportsmatch. You don't need to keep as much money with a book when you can deposit/withdrawal fast and often - it's another way to reduce risk. Just keep as much there as you need to bet, if you really love a side you can send more btc in, bet it 20 mins later, and get a payout right after the game.

Bitcoin hit $5.17820 today, low was $4.97300, it will go up the next few days and then next month go back to around $4.4000 or so, there was major talk last week with major players from the TASA and NYSE about how much money there is to be made with Bitcoin and the manipulation of it...it's a crazy world right now with BTC, I have showed more profit with BTC than, my portfolio , properties and other investments in the last 12 months... Be very very very careful though if you are moving large amounts as well.. speaking from experience..

Just ask Adam how anonymous Tor is, sure he got sloppy by taking paypal and W U but Tor is still a work in progress and know a guy in Tel Aviv who got popped using Tor with certain sites...
