    Bovada Sports Betting

I was looking to start an account with Bovada and was wondering what you think would be the best way of depositing funds with them from your experience. Sport picks is what I am interested in. Any input would be appreciated.

    Thank you

It's always a good plan to checkout the options on the site or ask Live Help for details. Certain methods are not publicly posted.

I can tell you if you expect to withdrawl via w.u. or m.g. then you will have to deposit that same method.

If you deposit by a CC you will have to withdrawl via a check and it takes 4-5 weeks.

I would strongly recommend AGAINST using a CC to fund your deposit with Bovada as they insist on processing CC deposits in foreign currencies and then you get hit with extra fees on the currency conversion to US Dollars as well as foreign transaction fees on your CC.

All of these fees are on top of the 4.9% they charge for using a CC.

I deposited $2,000 with them and was charged $98 in CC fees, $63 in foreign transaction fees and $29 in currency conversion fees. If they processed the deposit in US Dollars, then there wouldn't be any issues with currency conversion and foreign transaction fees.

After emailing them about it, I got the usual "we understand your frustration in the matter but we aren't going to do anything about it" form letter type of response.

Whats really irritating is I made this deposit directly with a Bovada representative who made no mention whatsoever about all of these extra fees.

Thanks a lot for all the info and what a drag to be charged with all of those fees.

I'd probably pass on this book. It's the only one I know of that charges fees on top of the usual CC fees that are incurred. Not to mention getting your money back takes a LONG TIME. There are easier books to move in and out of that you would enjoy your stay at more.

    Do they offer bankwires?

If we know that Bovada is Bodog & we know that Bodog has had everything seized by the DOJ, why would you risk investing your cash in bovada?
Is there any risk at all?
Am I reading too much into this?

When did this happen? I've had an account with Bodog/Bovada since 2008, and never experienced any interruption of service.

Is it because Calvin Ayre is a Canadian & I am in canada?
When I visit Bodog.com there is a DOJ Flash screen just like when I try to logonto Pokerstars from an american server.
I am not fully informed on this issue either but, from what I can gather he has been indicted for trying to pay out to americans.

Are there any links to any threads that might explain what is happening to Bodog & how this might affect Bovada?

I've never incurred any of these fees been with Borg for a while... Cashed out a few weeks ago and payments are slow but I think they're a decent book... They're rated an a by sbr so... Iono do what you want but I always deposit by cc and haven't had any trouble

    govolz,
Are you a U.S. resident and did they process your CC deposit in U.S. Dollars?

I have asked them several times for an explanation as to why they processed my CC deposit first in Chinese Yuan and then Euros for the 2nd deposit as opposed to US Dollars and I keep getting a "form letter" type of response indicating that it says customers are responsible for any international fees.

As it turns out, the language is buried under Rule 18.

This book gets a bad rep from a lot of people, but I have found my experience there quite pleasant. Unexpected bonuses from time to time. Got one for consistently betting college hoops props during the regular season. They offered some bonuses during March Madness as well just for making a measly $10 play every day of the tournament, you get an extra $10. It's not much, but it's free money for betting when you'd bet any way. The foreign currency deal I have never found that from my deposits. I get charged the fee that is listed when I deposit and did not find anything further from what I recall. Quick and painless deposits. Withdrawals as many mention do take a while, but you get paid and that is the end game.

I will say two things about their lines: While they do not always offer the best lines on games, they are often the slowest movers in regards to where the rest of the market is going so there are advantages to playing some of their lines vs. another book you might be in. You won't find it on all sports, but I've had several cases where I've gotten 40-50 cents better than the market prices on a favorite and 25 cents or so on a dog.

Overall, not the best book for everyone, but for a recreational player who isn't spend their rent money trying to double it and needing a withdrawal the next day, it's not bad at all IMO.

Here's a link to an external article on the way it worked. http://www.kickasspoker.com/2011/12/...da-switcheroo/

Apparently, the DOJ was a little late moving on Bodog, cause the transfer to Bovada happened in December, and the Bodog seizure happened in (I think) Feb.

I made a deposit for less than 350 last year. I am a small time recreational sports gambler. They gave me a 100% bonus even though they told me 10% on the phone. So I am not going to quibble. I made it through the survive the NFL season promo and got another 100 buck bonus. So while I lost some money over the season thanks to my favorite team the Steelers and Giants killing me during the regular season, though I won big with the Giants in the playoffs, I made a profit thanks to the bonuses and my volume is big enough where I am close to satisfying the rollover with the NFL 100 dollar bonus.

I was a little bigger years ago with sportsbook.com and my experience with them will go into another thread. Let's just say that I will never play online blackjack again as I do not trust these online bastards on the integrity of the casino.
So anyway, I haven't made any withdrawals yet. So I am still gambling with what I have with bovada and will withdraw at some point next year and report back.

My only major problem with bovada is that I find it curious that the only mistakes they make in livebetting seem to be in their favor. And to fix the problem takes more than a half hour. I believe that to be a firm with integrity, you need to penalize yourselves whenever you make a betting mistake and give the people who reported such a mistake some kind of bonus. It's akin to grocery stores giving you an item for free when you catch them charging you more than what the price label says it is. I did get them to give me a $10 bonus when I reported a $2 livebet settled incorrectly. It's not the money as $10 is not going to make me rich, but the principle of some kind of self punishment that needs to take place to earn our trust.

Been there lol. In 2010, I was having a great year betting FB, but kept losing all my winning in the Bodog casino. I emailed support and asked them to restrict my casino privileges, and they did with no problem.
