Extremely disappointed in the greek today...

I woke up this morning to an "account inactive or suspended" message on the greek. I'm extremely upset this has happened, especially during one of the biggest days of the tournament. I tried calling support and after twenty minutes and three transfers all I was told was "Your account is under internal review by the operations manager, but he isn't here today"

I asked why my account was active last night but not this morning, and their response was that the manager was in earlier (to suspend the account), but he has now left without providing any information on the account review and won't return until tomorrow.

I've had nothing but good things to say about the greek over the past few weeks as they've always answered the phone and my 2 cashouts have been processed in less than 24 hours each time, but this is outrageous.

I really hope they can come up with a good reason this review was necessary and resolve the issue quickly, because if this is simply the way this book rewards you for actually making some good bets during the tournament and winning some real money for the first time in my life, then I'm done with them as soon as I can cash out.

And before anyone starts pointing fingers at me (yes I know it is coming on these boards), I haven't broken any of their terms of service or done anything at all that would have caused this (ie, I've never had another account with the book, never used any fake information, and provided all requested Id's and credit card copies before my first payout). The only thing I can possibly think of is that I have been transferring a lot of my money in and out of their "new poker cleint" (which actually is just a portal into the cake poker site). And maybe they weren't prepared for all of those transfers. But either way that is their problem, and my sports book account certainly shouldn't have been affected by other issues.

I'd appreciate any input from members who have had similar problems with this or other books.

Wow, what a bad day to do this!
They should have at least sent you an email as to why!

Exactly. No email, no phone call, not even notes on the account for the clowns that answer their phones to read back to me.

I really hope this isn't just a way they've devised to keep someone who has actually been winning their bets on the NCAA games from betting some easy lines today...

They did lose a deposit on me one day and couldn't find it until the next because "the people in the cashiers office have gone home for the day". They did find it next day. Screwed me up for a few bets that night, but that is why everyone needs a few outs.

Maybe Cake knows something, you could try their CS. If it is related to them they would, I haven't found their CS bad at all. I play there direct though, you should to, you get rebated that way.

LOL to you betting "easy lines". They maybe worried about something, but I guarantee it is not that, and certainly not on games in the tournament.

    Peep,

OK, maybe easy lines wasn't the right way to say it. And I'm far from pro, but I also haven't had a losing day yet since before the conference tournaments started. For some reason I just have a knack for working the angles in college basketball (mostly betting the 1st half lines, and the Team totals for each half). I think it's easy to find those lines that will win 60-70% of the time, especially during the tournament where a lot of the teams haven't played each other that often.

I deposited 1k a month ago, and have worked that up to around 13k (although I have already cashed around 4k back out).

That's what I thought. But apparently not if they're suspending accounts on a Sunday morning for that amount to do an internal review...

Were you betting steam? I had my account (briefly) suspended betting Dr. Bob online. I promised to call in steam plays, and they re-opened it quickly.

    Justin7,

No, I don't follow any online touts, and don't generally bet specifically with the public hot picks or line movements.

But I have noticed that a lot of my second half bets, especially the team total winners, have had a lot of public movement on them. But that's just a coincidence, there's not set forumula I use, just general knowlegde, common sense, and past performance records...

I sent this follow up email and received this response which has me completely baffled. How could an account possibly be under review for playing in their virtual casino? I did hit a couple straight flushes in the jacks or better game so I'm up about $1,500 there, but it's just gambling. I really hope their casino and poker departments are one in the same and the issue is with the big poker transfers, I'll be livid if I find out they suspended my account for possibly "abusing" the casino they setup which is already heavily weighted in their favor...
    --------------------------------------

    Dear sirs,

I spoke with someone earlier on the phone who was supposed to be looking into my account review/temporary suspension. I still haven’t heard anything back and I’m extremely disappointed in the way this has been handled.

I’m not even sure why the account is under review, no one can tell me that. But I know I have done nothing wrong (I don’t have multiple accounts, haven’t provided any false information, haven’t had any deposits reversed, etc.), and I’m not happy that I didn’t even receive a simple email or phone call to tell me the account was being reviewed and what was going on or how long it would take, it was simply just cut off.

I had been very happy with your services as I was referred by the gentlemen at sbrforum.com. I had received good support up to this point, and my cashouts had been handled promptly. In fact, I couldn’t stop telling people how great your site was. But to just remove access to my account without notice, especially with a balance of $9k available, is extremely unprofessional.

I hope you can get this resolved quickly and provide me with substantial reasons why it happened in the first place. I would hate to have to contact everyone who I have referred to your site and tell them that I made a huge mistake and your service isn’t what I thought. That would make us both look very bad.

Please let me know what you have found out and when this issue will be resolved.

    Thank you,
    Keith Downing

    -----------------------------------

    Dear Keith,

Your e-mail has been forwarded to the casino department, you will get a response shortly.

    Kind regards,
    Nicole

Guess that is what we will find out.

You did forget to mention that you hit some straight flushes. I never even hit one lol.

Anyways, keep up posted, we are interested.

    Mark,

I wasn't intentionally betting steam or anything of the sort, but I guess there's no way to know how heavily the public was on some of the same lines I was, especially for some of my second half bets where those lines often move quickly anyways.

Out of curiosity, what was the verdict for you? You said they suspeneded you, but did they allow you to reactivate your account with some type of limitations? Or did they follow another course of action? Just curious.

I wonder if it's a poker issue .. maybe Cake told them to freeze the account. Any chip-dumping we should be aware of ?

I was wondering (and actually hoping) that it is related to cake. I do already have a cake poker account, although I never use it. But I really don't see how playing via the greek could possibly be a violation of their terms of service whether or not I have had an account there in the past, as the greek is actually presenting the poker room to it's players as it's own! The tables say the greek, the interface says the greek, and the deposit/cashier pages only show your balance at the greek and an option to deposit or withdraw funds (you can't deposit or withdraw any other way). In fact, it doesn't mention cake poker anywhere or give you an option to contact them for anything.

The only reason I even know it's cake is that I've played there before and recognized the interface, but even then I had to ask a couple of the players on the table what network they were on to be sure. It's actually kind of sketchy if you ask me, but no one did, so I don't see what the problem would be. I haven't dumped chips or logged in to my other cake account since well before the greek integrated about 5 days ago...nothing questionable at all. The only issue could be that I've been transferring $2,000-5,000 back and forth every day, but that's what the program is set up to do (there aren't any withdrawal requests or forms to fill out, it simply transfers your money back to the sports book immediatly upon request).

I really hope they get this worked out tomorrow and are able to tell me the real reason the account was suspended for review. I had such high hopes for them as my new permanent sports book, but my confidence is fading fast...

Ok, after being blown off again yesterday afternoon and this morning, I've finally gotten to the bottom of this. I sent this email about and hour ago and was immediatly told to call Peter, the accounts manager at poker world:

Ok guys, I’ve tried to be as patient as possible, but this is really unprofessional on your part. No one has even told me what is going on with my account or why it is mysteriously “under review”. Yesterday I’ll admit that you had the excuse that it was Sunday, but I was told loud and clear that the “operations manager” would review the account first thing in the morning and get back with me.

Instead, no one has even bothered to reply to the follow up message I sent this morning.

Please either reactivate my account immediately or contact me within the hour via phone AND email to let me know why it is being reviewed and how long the process will take. If you can not do this I will be forced to file a formal complaint with the sbrforum.com website and follow up with other industry regulatory commissions.

I really hope we can get this worked out in a satisfactory manner on our own though.

Upon following up with Peter, I was informed that the poker department had suspended my account until they could "get ahold of me" to verify that a large loss on the account was legitimate and that it wasn't causing me any financial problems or there weren't other issues regarding "gambling" that might be affecting me.

Overall I still have found all of this very strange, but after verifying my identity, that I knew about the transactions, and that I had sent in my id with my first withdrawal request; they have agreed to reopen my account. I'm pretty suprised that the company would make such a stink over $5,000 in gambling losses at a company where that is apparently "peanuts" as everyone says, but I guess it's legitimate.

My only MAJOR complaint is that no one contacted me to let me know anything was going on. I was simply left to find the account suspended when i logged in, and no one could tell me anything over the phone on sunday. Just seems like if they truly had the players best interest in mind, they would have gone about this differently.

Either way, I guess the issue is resolved to my satisfaction (after one very frustrating day).

The service was obviously bad, but making sure that people losing a chunk at a new poker site are actually losing, and not being cheated somehow (password hacked + chip dumping, etc), is good for players and good for them to avoid claims.

I don't think the care how many poker accounts you have in cake, or with how many books. I think you are far better off just using your straight cake one though, as you do get rebated rake through that.
