    Betonline CC scam

BetOnline is now charging its customers a 6% processing fee on CC deposits despite offering no clear indication of this fee on the deposit page. Bodog/Bovada also pulls this stunt but are very clear about informing you of the fee as you deposit. Betonline is giving its customers no clear indication of this fee until after the deposit has been made.

    Typical shady behavior from Betonline.

After complaining on live chat I am no longer even able to reach the CC deposit page to confirm that this 6% fee was not clearly warned of prior to depositing. SHADY!!!!!

Sophia: and when you're entering the card info, below it clearly says: Processing fees are applied on credit
card deposits as described on the rules page.

First off I do not recall seeing this note on the deposit page, secondly why not just say there is a 6% processing fee??? WTF should you have to navigate all the way to the rules page to find out they are getting ready to mug you for 6%??? WTF would they not inform you of what your deposit amount is going to be after the 6% fee is removed before charging your CC????

They've been charging 6% since mid-December, and it is in plain view under Cashier Rules:

    http://www.betonline.com/rules#cashier-rules

    Cashier Rules

    Deposit Rules

    1. Company or corporate credit or charge cards cannot be used for deposits.
    2. The name on a CC MUST match the name on the account for a CC deposit to be accepted.
    3. Book-to-Book transfers are permitted on accounts where two or more withdrawals have been sent to the name listed on the account.
    4. If any deposit is returned, charged-back, or deemed fraudulent in any way it will result in the forfeiture of any/all winnings, bonuses, or remaining positive balance in the account.
    5. When you choose to deposit via CC, DC, or gift card a 6% processing fee applies.

Who gives a damn if it is hidden in their rules page?

Why is it not listed in plain view on the CC deposit page? Why is the player not informed of exactly how much they are being charged in fees prior to their CC being charged?

It is not hard at all for a programmer to add a simple calculator and a note informing customers of the fees they are paying in clear view on the deposit page. THIS IS SHADY DISHONEST BEHAVIOR!!!!!

    Lou,

Is it ok if a book does not offer me the opportunity to confirm a line change when placing a bet as long as they have it buried in their rules somewhere that lines are subject to change?

You started the thread to complain that no indication was given of this fee.

I don't know that I'd say listing a CC processing term under the Cashier, Deposit rules section constitutes a "scam" as your post title reads, nor does it seem hidden. To me it sounds like you're upset you paid 6% and preferred to start a thread over it than actually do any reading.

And yes I did read the hidden rule on their rules page. I started this thread to bring this hidden fee to the attention of the posters here at SBR to prevent them from getting raped on hidden fees.

I apologize for bringing negative publicity to your precious affiliate book.

    Sharp,

This is in no way similar to a betting line changing. The processing fee is listed in the cashier deposit section. It would be "hidden" if it were instead placed in the site terms and conditions - it's not, you just didn't read it and you're upset. Understandable, but it happens.

For every one person that starts a thread to call a book a scam, ten more read the rules and continue on as normal. You remain free to share your opinion, if ya think the book is a scam for listing a processing fee in the cashier section of the site, then you're free to continue expressing that within this thread.

Can you provide a screen shot from the deposit page where it informs the player who is about to confirm a deposit that he is going to be charged a 6% fee? On the deposit page not some hidden rules page that is 5 mouse clicks away, but on the actual page where the transaction is taking place.

Can anybody please navigate to the CC cashiers page and post a screen shot of where it is clearly posted that you are about to be charged a 6% fee? as I am oddly no longer able to access that page and am instead informed to contact players services.

    Hi sharpcat,

We actually do inform you about the deposit fee on the deposit page in the cashier. If you have a look below the 'Deposit to my Account' button you'll see the information that we will apply a fee.

With regards to you not being able to access the page anymore. Please PM me your details and I'll look into it.

Love the sleazy used carsalesman approach to bookmaking you guys employ there Alex

"Instead of informing players who have made many deposits via CC at our book over the years that we have now initiated a 6% fee, lets just put a small note at the bottom of the page telling players that processing fees are now applied instead of simply just stating that there is a 6% fee lets make them follow a bunch of links so they can try to figure it out for themselves."

Sharpcat, you come off as being a whiner.

Just don't use CC's there bro.
I'm surprised they take plastic at all. Nice service.

A lot of betonline bashing goes on, but my friend has gotten 2 $xxx withdraws no problem. I'd use them if needed.

Instead of making the customer go looking for the fee you should clearly state on the deposit page that there will be a 6% applied to all CC deposits, Bodog/Bovada clearly states the fee on the deposit page.

Complaining the wrong crowd here sharpcat. 6% fee on deposits, umm I'll pay 7% fee on withdrawal so it is faster, umm yeah I don't care just let me gamble, freak I lost in the casino again *reload* oh cool SBR has a casino. Pow finally won, let me take it all off. Man now I'm bored, oh wow can buy 12 points and parlay, umm when do i get play trivia again, umm.. - Of course most will have no issue.

Anyways agree 100%, at the bare minimum they should LINK to the rules page. However I mean no one else with fees (Betfair, Bodog etc.) hides the fee and then covers this up with a small reference most won't read, just keeping fine print to protect themselves. The others list it out and allow each bettor to confirm which is the honest thing to do. No doubt if they spent the few minutes programming a clear display it would result in less deposits.

I just made a deposit with cc and noticed I got charged for 6%. Chat with customer service but still useless.

It will be my last deal with this book, they got the 6% processing fee but lost a 5 years customer. Period.

Maybe you should read the fine print when depositing. It clearly states the 6% fee on the deposit page, BOL even posted a screen shot in here and you're still complaining.

I think he realized he was acting up because he hasn't responded back to this thread and usually he does when he feels like he some leverage.

it is actually more than 6%, let's say you pay 100, they give you 94, so to get 94 in your account you pay 6. 6/94 is 6.38%... anyway, not only that, I just deposit 500 dollars and got an e-mail saying the charges would be 499.98 or LESS, well actually they where 509 plus a 15 dollars fee for a foreign transaction, total cost 524 dollars and I got 470 in my account, 54/470 no is 11.5%. They are beyond crooks and shady....

BTW if you want to get you money back you'll have to pay another fee and the amount has to be above 500.... I've never see anything like this before... hope PartyPoker is back to US soon....
