Sports betting and Living in Vegas

I would like to know of anyone that lives in Vegas that sports bets. I would like to know, where do you bet? Where do you collect? What are the best places to stay? Should you stay in a hotel or rent apartment? Does Vegas offer parlay bets? What are the many ways to bet in Vegas?

Just everything there is to know about betting in Vegas and living there.

I can't answer your exotics question, but I know you can for sure parlay. I live in L.A. and am seriously considering this an option with the payout delays/limits resulting from our parents....err....Government. I can tell you Hilton SB is the top-dog and that's where I get down, but you can also play at some of the remote Stations' kiosks as they are just about everywhere. Since it's roughly a 4hr drive one-way for me it's an option during football season as baseball and basketball can become a problem with daily games etc.,
COL is pretty cheap with the dwindling economy and tourist dollars so you may be able to get a steal rent-wise.

Around a dozen books in town and that number is dwindling every day. Betting options are very limited compared to offshore. Only losers will get any action for long.

Housing dollar goes further in Vegas than just about anywhere. Restaurants and clubs are world-class. Retail outlets ubiquitous for miles in every direction. Very convenient to navigate by car; public transportation is poor and you won't walk anywhere except the 2 miles between casino garage and floor. Close to zero culture or intellectual stimulation. Somewhat decent nature options within a few hours. Hot as f ck in the summer, surprisingly frigid in the winter. LVPD loves to shoot people. City is fundamentally a con job and residents behave accordingly, embrace it or perish.

Rapscallion thanks for your post. You say they have kiosks everywhere so that means you can bet at the kiosk. I find that really cool to be able to bet anytime, anywhere. So you really have to be on your game at all times. You also mention Hilton Sb what does the sb stand for, and you also say COL has cheap rent. Are you talking bout Colorado?

RickySteve you right. I seen this Vegas special, and the town looked terrible but everything you said was exactly what they showed. But I still want to do my thing cause that's just me. I know the down economy there will bounce back up, so it can't be any worst than ATLANTA.

Vegas's ecomony isn't coming back. Only live there if you want to work in hospitality/tourism. There is no other industry.

    Agree.

I don't see the USA ever coming back to what it was as an economic power.

Las Vegas is never coming back to what it was economically.

Something to consider is where do you like to do your research. If you are working from home you can jump on a line instantly. In Vegas you have to run to the book and hope you get the line you want.

Don't forget about the sub par school system. But I guess that's expected in Vegas.

Wow! I didn't realize how many people are depressed bout this economy. I never expect the economy to get better ever, to be TRUTHFUL, it never was STABLE. Any time you have paper fronting for metals it never works and that's in history.

So when I speak of Vegas I'm pretty sure its all bad for some people, but 5 years ago that same person was so HAPPY to live there now its all depressing and negative coming out this person's mouth. Lets focus on the positive side for now, because I know of the bad in Vegas. (This is not directly at anyone who spoke on the board.)

I'm only going there for one reason, and that's to make money.

Yes, I find it convenient to work from home, but I like getting my C.O.H(cash on hand), it lets me see exactly where my money is going and my great money management skills can be put to use everyday.

I think the beauty of being in Vegas is the rush of fast-life, such as running to those kiosks when you know you have a good pick and placing your bet before the LINE MOVES. Most people HATE putting in HARD WORK like that, but that is where the real money comes from, and if you working hard it pays to continue to HUSTLE.

I don't plan to go to school in that system out there, I know its worst than Mississippi school system, probably. And that's not to disrespect MS, cause I'm from there but we is better than Vegas schools.

There are negatives in living anywhere. Vegas is pretty great in many aspects and sh t in others. It depends on what you value.

I put no faith in government either but spare us the inherent value of metal pablum. Be it treasury bills or tulip bulbs or a steamer trunk full of solid gold dildos, everything is ultimately musical chairs.

I've done a fair amount of research on the public schools in LV. The quality seems to deteriorate by grade and you need to live in specific elite areas to attend the desirable schools.

You don't necessarily have to run to the book, Station offers phone and online wagering for Vegas residents.

You will last 1-2 months at Stations if they track your wagers before they ban you.

Why cant u just stay where u are and do the same thing right from your home? There is still plenty of places to work with and don't tell me u have to wait to long, standup places u get your money fast. I mean the main reason i would want to go live in vegas would be to play live poker there and thats why i want to move their, other than that why would u want to do that. But at the moment i could just go to ac or the other spots that are a little over an hour. Sounds to me like your just daydreaming pretty hard.

Yeah, don't get a card with most of these places (the Hilton is the exception). The card just tracks your bets and if you win a lot at Stations they will ban you.

Like any other business, Vegas shops cater to their "High Rollers". I can romise you that someone who plays 5K a game is going to get a lot more attnetion than someone who plays $500.00 a game. Remember that major corperations are buying up many of the Vegas Hotels and Casinos. Just look at the number of hotels and casino's are under the MGM Grand/Mirage flagship or the Caesars/Harrah's banner. Some shops are a lot more solvent than others. Also remember that sports wagering is just a part of an overall casino operation, and certainly not the biggest part. The job of a casino manager is to turn a bottom line profit from all gaming activities. If he/she sees that a certain percentage of their losses is coming from a certain machine, game, or sports wagering, they are going to investigate it. They can change the payout rate of a machine. They can run a counter in Blackjack out of the Casino. They can also run a hot player out of a sportsbook. If you are a local, the chances of you getting run are much greater than if you are a guest, paying for your room and food. Remember, Vegas is about the bottom line. It is not like the old days, when the hotels were there just to service the casino's out of town customers. The casino is a big part of that bottom line, but only a part. People who spend money in a hotel for rooms, food, and other things stand much less of a chance of getting run because they are spending money. Locals rarely do.

The good thing about Vegas is that you can get into one of those elite zoning areas for 100k. 89052 is all zoned for the best schools in Vegas and there are 3/2's available for 100k. People are insane if they're buying now and not getting Coronado or Palo Verde High.

In the Bay Area a school the quality of those two is only available for those with 800k.

Part of the problem in Vegas is that the city exploded population wise, and could not keep up with the needed public services. When they started to catch up, the economy went to hell. Housing is cheap in Vegas. I would seriously consider what Tomato has posted in here about schools. A child's education should come first and foremost to a parent.

The $5K bettor is mostly going to get attention in the form of "We will accept $300 on that, sir."

Remember...there are people making money on sportbetting in vegas..if you do move there and frequent the sportsbooks then you will surely notice the "runners"...get to know them and "IF " you are good enough to get your limits slashed and you find it hard to "get down", they might be able to help you..plenty of unemployed people in Vegas..you wont have any trouble getting others to bet for you.

Of course risk is involved...but start the runner/beard out with small money untill you can build up some trust.

    A few words of advice...

    - Keep your overhead to a minimum. You're going to run cold eventually and every penny counts.
    - If you're going to the same out(s) daily, don't hang out there and keep up appearances.
    - Never receive all cash on a ticket that pays out over $10K.
    - Never sign up for their cards or present a card at the window unless they request it.
    - Stay as incognito as possible. Walk in, look at the board, walk to the window, place your bet, and leave.
    - Invest in a line service. You will find ridiculous value in this town on events the public doesn't necessarily bet.
    - Don't talk to anyone, don't share any information, etc. Let the losers keep losing.
    - Come into the casino / sportsbook prepared. Know your numbers and whats your bet / don't bet odds.
    - Any use of a cell phone or communication device raises a huge flag. Books are terrified of sharps with more up-to-date info than them.
    - Live in an area where there's multiple outs within a 10-15 minute drive.

    Waste of ******* time.

You can bet spreads and 1st and 2nd halves. THATS IT

    No Quarters
    No Team Totals
    No periods for NHL

You cant do shit..................... Stay where you are or move over-sea"s and Open up a Pinny Account or Greek.

Better off opening up a 5 dimes account and call it a day if you stay in the States.

    ALL PIPE DREAMS.

Coronado or Palo Verde are garbage if you compare them to other states...they're the best in Vegas, but that's an incredibly low bar.

Whats the live betting like in Vegas, thinking somewhere like the M-Resort ideally, but what about the Palazzo/Venetian as well ?

Whats the limits like, and any ideas whether people get limited for grinding out against them on live games ?

Also whats the live game juice like -110 same as pregame or -115, -120 a side ?
