Somewhat interested to signup with Matchbook. But there are some turnoffs....

    Deposit fee
    No euro currency
    No livebet

I can't see the lay odds? Do you need to be logged in to see this?
How is the activity on NHL, how much gets traded on a typical hockey game?

I'm not aware of a deposit fee.
Using Moneybookers (and Neteller I believe) you are debited with a "commission credit" which (assuming you win enough) is then offset against your future commissions. It only becomes a "fee" to the extent that you don't win enough to absorb it all.

Yes, USD is the only currency although they have been promising to introduce more currencies but are taking forever to do so which I just can't comprehend as it is most certainly holding back the growth in their business big time.

There is no need on two way markets to display "lay odds" as all bets on two way markets (regardless of which odds style you elect to see displayed) are effected using US style odds where for every value there is an exact opposite, e.g. -110 / +110, unlike at Betfair where bets are effected at decimal odds where there isn't always an exact opposite, e.g. 1.91 / 2.0989 has to be offered on Betfair as 2.10. So at MB you simply enter a bid on the side you want to back. In multiple option markets you will see 'to win' and 'to lose' odds.

Unfortunately, for reasons unknown, MB doesn't disclose the amount matched on each market as Betfair does. For all US sports however I'm certain that the pre-game volume would easily outstrip Betfair's. I always compare odds and find that the vast majority of my US sports bets are placed at MB for the better net odds (better than Pinnacle too). I'm not a huge punter but I'd say that would be true for up to at least $5k.

Thanks. I'm very happy at befair but there is no action on NHL.
    Regarding the deposits it says on the first page that deposits with Neteller and Moneybookers is free during October. That sounds to me, it will not be free in November? Also in the FAQ it says;

Our philosophy is simple, we try to absorb as much of the deposit costs as possible. For full details on current deposit costs, please see the Cashier section.

My understanding is that they aren't even taking our advance commissions in October but will revert to the standard in November.

All deposit methods quoted there say the deposit 'fee' is credited to your commission credits account so available to offset the commissions you incur (on both winning and losing bets).
What I previously said may have been misleading in referring to commission on winning. Unlike BF, MB charges you commission on both losing and winning bets. So you will recoup your commission credits so long as you don't lose your entire deposit. Even then it remains there to be added to commission credits you get charged for on your next deposit.

OK. Thanks for clarification. Still think they could remove the deposit fees entirely. Why make it so complicated?

Just to give you a little hint. Deposit fees for Neteller and Moneybookers are soon gone to be free for the remainder of the year. There will never be any withdrawal fees for these methods.

Our current top priority is offering multi-currency options. We expect this to be completed before the end of the 2011.

    Warm Regards

    - Mike

I like that for NFL today there were BOTH of the significant lines available on the main NFL page.

Eg: Colts +3 and Colts +3.5.

Makes it easier to keep an eye on the whole board with less clicking.

Still not done, instead after a small deposit for a bet i wanted to play only at MB i was asked for my ID..after being with them for err 5 years and only using Neteller.
Screw you people, iam not sending my ID to a place that cannot offer currencies for it's EUROPEAN & Co. customers (you don't have US anymore, clowns). Wtf really, amazing how fast they implented this ID crap (Pinny doesn't ask for it, and they make your volume and popularity look like micky mouse crap) and cannot sort out the most important issues.

Matchbook Mike where are you? Been quiet for a long time now.

None of your promises have yet come to fruition.
    What is going on there?

All we've had in over 10 months of new ownership are cosmetic changes. Nothing of real benefit for players.

More currencies (including AUD) are desperately needed - sticking with USD only when you have no American players is ridiculous - I know several Aussies who would be keen to join if they could use AUD. I'm sure it would be the same story in Europe. Liquidity would improve overnight if you did this.

And limiting withdrawals via Moneybookers to $2500 each ($5000 per day) is not befitting an outfit which is serious about attracting punters.

    Americans can't play at Matchbook
Europeans and Australians can and would far prefer to use their own currencies.

Even if you are only referring to FOREX transactions, that figure is overstated.

Quite what relevance it has to a betting exchange that does no accept US players, I have no idea.
Can you think of any other sportsbook/exchange that does not accept Americans that only has accounts denominated in USD. No? Why would that be?

Pretty happy with my experience at matchbook. However, wish there was a Canadian currency and no fee on ********** deposits. I would probably make another deposit if there were no fees. I'll stick with Pinnacle for now.

    Have they now said March?

I had heard early 2012 at first, which is why I am frustrated at how long it's taking

I've taken quite a bit of my money out for now until new currencies are introduced(CAD) and hopefully volume goes up a bit.

I was told by the end of Feb. I would class that as still being 'early 2012'.
Beta testing of new currency accounts is in progress. I have an AUD account.
