Full Tilt Poker acquired by french investment group

"Full Tilt Poker and Groupe Bernard Tapie Sign Acquisition Agreement

Dublin, Ireland (September 30, 2011) Laurent Tapie, Managing Director of ‘Groupe Bernard Tapie’ announced today that the group has signed an exclusive agreement with the Board of Directors of Full Tilt Poker to acquire the company and all of its associated assets.

This agreement, which includes the repayment of Full Tilt Poker’s world-wide players in full, is subject to several conditions; the first of which is a favorable resolution with the United States Department of Justice. Discussions with the United States Department of Justice will begin immediately.

‘Groupe Bernard Tapie’ has over 30 years of experience in the salvation of financially distressed businesses, with over 40 companies acquired and managed to profitability, the most well-known being the sport equipment giant, Adidas."

I think odds are pretty good people get paid back now. I would probably guess FTP money is worth $0.80 on the dollar if not more. I'm usually too conservative in estimates about these things. In any event it's better than it was a few hours ago.

    What a horrible investment.

The brand name imo is now worthless. Amazing to me that this "investment group" thinks there's value in a brand which stiffed customers for millions.

I'm guessing their software and other infrastructure is where the value here is. Amazing that you would think you know more about the investment then the company that has a track record of success and surely hundreds of hours of due diligence.

Thought this was only pending that FullTilt was able to keep their gaming license, which has now been revoked?

If they pay then they didn't stiff, they just slow paid. Bodog even slow paid at one time.

IF they fully pay everyone that is owed, the brand name would be worth a ton.

and in a couple years they will all be billionaires from the money made from tilt. I hope everyone rejects them and they don't allow usa players back, but just pay them what is owed now

Its gonna be funny seeing people saying they would never go back, going back to play on tilt

Translation - I got sucked out on all the time against players I perceive to be donkeys.

You're a die-hard liberal democrat so how skilled could you possibly be at anything?

They probably bought it at 40 cents on the dollar, will keep the infrastructure, and rebrand it. Not a bad move -- the best part is that guys like Lederer and Ferguson will probably lose everything.

    They lost their license.

The brand name had a mystique to differentiate itself from lots of other poker sites, due to the TV poker "superstars".

Now those same players are regarded as stiffs, scumbags, thieves.

That is the aura associated with "Full Tilt".

    d2bets - "I'm guessing..."

    Exactly.

    The brand is garbage.

The brand itself may be tainted, but dont forget how popular this site was and how many people signed up to it - the client database alone would be worth a fortune to the right people - great chance for anyone with a bit of marketing savvy and the right company/website etc to gain a load more clients.

that client database is already for sale, or more probably, already went into hands of 3rd person.

having said that, FTP had some good products and would be welcomed back by poker community.
