    Neglect Betfair [WATCH OUT!]

My name is ******* ******* I am Brazilian and Trader / Punter who thinks of going pro in few time.

Today when trying to log into my BetFair again I get the information that my password was wrong. I tried one more time because I was sure my password. After four unsuccessful attempts saying that the password was incorrect i decided to retrieve it.

I clicked on the link 'Forgot Password' and put my data (Username, Email, Country). To my surprise he said that there were no account with that data. I tried to see that again and gave the same mistake. I immediately called to Betfair in UK and said that i cant access my account.

After answering the questions from support the dispatcher ask me if my email t my email was and I said no! My email is the only that i have who is He said he was only $7 in the account and that $ 7 was the responsibility and that nothing else had. I was nervous because it was about $ 400 in my account. He asked me what my last bet. I answered and he said that my account has probably hacked and he was suspending it and send it for investigation. I got no reaction. How could it be all right there about 2 hours ago and now have almost nothing in my account?

I told them to contact me as soon as they discover something as soon as possible.

After about 4 hours I get this email:
    "Dear ******* ,

Following an investigation into the activities on your account we have concluded that unauthorised access has been gained to your Betfair account. As such your account was suspended and will remain so until further instructions on this matter are received from yourself.

If you wish to continue to use Betfair please follow the below instructions:

    1. Change your password and ensure that you run appropriate anti-spyware, firewall and virus protection on your computer

Unfortunately, Betfair cannot accept liability for funds lost from your account under these circumstances. Under section 1 of our Account terms and conditions of use:

"You are solely responsible for the security and confidentiality of your account. In particular, you agree to keep your username, password and/or TAN strictly confidential and you are responsible for any misuse of your password and/or TAN. Provided that we have been correctly supplied with the account information requested, we are entitled to assume that offers and payments are made by you. You should change your password on a regular basis and never disclose it to any third party. You undertake to protect your username and password in the same way that you would in respect of your bank cards and any failure to do so shall be at your sole risk and expense. If another person accesses your account, you are solely responsible for all their actions whether or n ot their access was authorised by you and you hereby indemnify us and hold us harmless against all costs, claims, expenses and damages howsoever arising in connection with the use of or access to your account by any third party.."

    Regards,

    Investigations Team"

I was shocked with such disregard to tell me that there really was a robbery but did not tell me anything about it or who stole it. And I was even more surprised because they say they are not responsible. Basically told 'If you want to return again, return, but the thief gets your money. If you do not want to comeback dont come. "

Promptly forward an email response to them:

"Hello, I did not understand. Funds that i have in my account were stolen and will not be returned? Is that it?

I never disclose my password to any third party. I protect my username and password in the Same Way That I protect my moneybookers, my neteller account, my entro pay account and my bank account. And these 4 dont have been hacked. And the passwords are the same!

I put a full scan on my computer and do not found any virus / trojan of any type. 4 antivrus I have in my pc and 2 anti-trojans to keep security on the day. That I can not see the Account Section 1 of the T & C are Applied here.

And after this news and see the Conclusion That cam betfair dont have SSL Security:

I do not feel responsible about my losses since I never broke any T & C.

I admire Betfair like an trusted company (hope continue to rely) on their behalf and its security. I also have high participation in a site of traders / punt and Brazilian sports betting, which constantly point out Betfair indirectly without thinking in profits and always praise about its reliability. The same I do on the SBR forum Sportbooks Review.

What I can not accept and never expected to do so without breaking any line of T & C I know that everything was on Betfair, a company that I trusted, disappeared and no one is responsible.

I very much hope that this resolves itself because I keep relying on good posture Betfair.

    Att,

    ******* ******* ******* *******
    CEO @ VAMUS"

Now I am waiting their response. Honestly this claim of T & C do not apply since I have not transgressed any of them.

Today after waiting 24 hours for a return of my email on BetFair decided to send more email requesting more information about the case.

    "Good morning,

I understand that BetFair are working on the case and are focused on solving this problem but please gimme informed as soon as possible.

    Waiting for response asap.

    Thanks,

    Att,

    ******* ******* ******* *******
    CEO @ VAMUS

And see the SICK response from Betfair

"Dear ******* Thank you for your e-mail.
The conclusion is the same as that in the email reply to you yesterday. If you are happy with your computer security, we can re-open the account for you so you can change passwords. However, Betfair will not be liable for the funds lost.
Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any further enquiries.
    Kind regards,
    Laurence He
    Betfair Helpdesk"

I response right now via email:

"This is an absurd! You guys said that my account was roubbed and dont say nothing more about this! You guys are complliat with the tiefs ?

Im open an case and an inquire with ABAS (UK) - SBR - and Brazilian Federal Police.

Its ridiculous how you guys are cooperating with thiefs.

    Att,

    ******* *******
    CEO @ VAMUS

Imagine losing your entire bankroll for a thief and not knowing what it was or who it was and that his money was gone in seconds.

This is ridiculous and the way that betfair treat this is MORE RIDICULOUS!

    Please help me.

I just received another similar complaint against Betfair. A player from Russia who was very careful (unique passwords, and ran anti-virus and anti-spyware) had his account hacked, and 1000's dumped at Poker from someone logged in from the UK.

Sadly, there is nothing you can do. Betfair assumes it is the player's fault, and no organization can help you.

I haven't had my account funded for a while now, but recently I clicked on the "My account" box and then the "My security" sub-heading to find that my account had twice apparently been accessed by an IP out of England (I'm in Canada). I hadn't logged in for about a month, and these mystery logins had definitely taken place during that hiatus.

A little disconcerting to say the least, even with an unfunded account.....

I don't believe any betting agency would treat an account hacking any differently.

It would be just too easy for fraudsters to claim hacking and get a free roll.

Betfair has the most users so logically would be the biggest target and therefore likely to have the most instances of this.

Take every precaution you can against your login details being hacked and don't keep more than you need to in any account.

What you say is true Hareeba as far as it goes; however I'd say the response here is grossly inadequate. If poker chip-dumping has occurred then Betfair is at least under an obligation to investigate it (the account where the cash ended up with its attached address, info' and withdrawal method should be obvious) and report the relevant findings to the police, and also tell the client that they have done this. If they do not do this on each and every occasion then there is nothing to stop a rogue employee continue to cream off accounts at will, and they are running their company and treating players funds in a negligent way.

Certainly agree that any such information they glean from their investigation should be passed on the the authorities and I expect that is precisely what they do. But as far as informing their client I think there are all sorts of legal impediments. For example they are not permitted to advise a client when they have filed a suspicious transaction report. Now if this were a case of fraud by the account holder then they would be breaching that law.

if you approach a European book with a fraud/unauthorised access claim as such, they will only disclose information to legal authorities in conjunction with an investigation.

You can't just ring up and say "tell me who it was/what the IP address was/etc"

I have a single static IP address. I have seen other IP #'s logged into my account at the "My Security" section. So far, each time I looked them up I found the owner was "The Sporting Exchange", which is Betfair themselves. So it might be that.

FYI - one will see UK ip addresses appear in the stream if you go to any betfair promo page, the season ticket thing, etc etc solely due to how their systems interact / hand you off to the promo webservers

5mike5 - you know absolutely nothing about what you speak of ... 5D has maybe 1% of security on logins / passwords / etc

Welcome to the forum Mike, ingratiate yourself a bit more to the membership. Name calling is well thought of here

You are (attempting) to slam a site you cannot use, and have not ever used, so you can't really claim "i wouldnt have NICKEL IN THIS PLACE..RUN AND RUN FAST" since you'd never get in the proverbial door in the first place.

5Dimes has effectively zero account security, but you seem comfortable with that for whatever reason, and given Betfair (and 95 percent of the rest of the books which do have account security) don't really cater to afficionados of NASCAR, I think you need not worry about yourself putting funds at risk anywhere else.

    Absurd.

Name any book which would compensate a player whose account had been hacked into.

    Never had problems with betfair...

How this supposed hackers "withdraw" the money ? Sorry If I failed to see that in your post, Was it Poker ? did they tell you?
Poker has to be the 'easiest' way. You can ask many sportsbooks (don't know if that's the case with betfair) to lock casino/Poker in your account. It's a good measure if you have the funds only for sportsbetting and the book offers poker too.

the amount of complaints against betfair is increasing every day,

they DO NOT care about customers.

if they did why would they allow this? and why would they allow site crashes?

fukin scum, and i have a betfair account but NEVER use it,

    pinnacle is better than betfair.
