The book will be the same. It will be similar to when some players ended up at Bodog.ca or .eu except it will be the domain. Expect domainXYZ.eu. Like betCRIS.com to Bookmaker.com.

Bodog does now. Who knows what company will own it and who will lease it from who but it will be the same poker room for the players.

I guess I don't understand. Surely if they want to be a global brand, and to be well-respected by licensing authorities (UK, First Cagayan), they'll be pressure on them to close their US-facing arm? Why would changing the name ease that pressure?

It's more of a brand issue. The same companies don't technically own the different Bodogs as it is. Another example would be Sportsbook.com and say, Sports.com. Each domain is owned by someone else yet there is a lease agreement and its all the same platform.

The Brand is one entity that is licensed out. The new brand in the US will technically be owned by MMG who holds the Bodog.eu site already.

bodog got out of the us in '06. When they did, mohawk approached them about licensing their name to use for their sportsbook and that's what's been going on since then. Basically bodog's a known name and mohawk paid for the privilege of using it but when the deal expires at the end of the year, bodog's not going to renew. It's almost like when subway franchisees pay subway to use the name. The franchisee still owns the shop and operates it, but they get the name brand recognition and loyalty of subway customers.

Now that Alwyn Morris(owner of the U.S Bodog franchise) has got himself a nice sheet through using the Bodog brand the last bunch of years,in 2012 he will keep the same url with a different name, keep all the money for himself and his group,no mre huge royalties to Calvin plus these guys may also be the only ones not intimidated by the American Govt.

He will not do anything to step on the feet of UK Bodog or any other Bodog franchise including Canada.

Come 2012 he may have a Monopoly on the American Market he won't need any other parts of the world and even without a Monopoly he's still only up against Heritage, BETONLINE,lEGENDS and a few others.

It's only natural after the American gov bullied all ethnic mobsters and legit guys out of the online sports betting game that the Indians would fill the void.

I read on another site that Bodog is pulling out of United States market by end of this year. Glad to see them go. With their late lines, no buying points, games in red boxes that you can not parlay, and charges for CC depoits I wil not miss them. They are a scam book.

I read through this whole thread and found it informative, as long as my money is safe at Bodog.eu (Mohawk) I'm happy. But I'm curious what's going to happen to all the people that had money on Full Tilt poker? I just played on there for fun and their software/poker program has been down for a long time now, people must be pissed if they can't take their money out.

If Bodog wants to have a face in Europe, then it should be ready to accept European action. Limiting after a couple of bets, and offering dual lines to players, will not help Bodog.

Bodog just received their UK license which is a very big deal for them and very expensive. They also just bought advertising on an English Premier team....also a very big investment. Bodog wants to be a global brand and get more deals done.

It's very difficult for Bodog to be under attack in the US and still be on the front of Lionel Messi's jersey. There will be a new url but will be the same software, CS, mgt....Think Bookmaker and the CRIS brand.
