funniest thing i ever saw were the posters here who wrote feds only after poker sites not gamblign sites. LOL.

online gambling is dead in the US. unless of course you want to be the ponies. but dont worry you can still go to nevada or your local casino. change we can believe in?

The end is not near? Of course it is. It's only a matter of time before all the major books are done with US.

Betjam and the Greek closed on their own freewill. They weren't shut down. Plenty of books that are solid that still service US customers.

what's really funny is republicons believing poker and sports betting are evil and immoral while promoting horse racing and slots machines as good wholesome christian family fun. their hypocrisy is appalling.

anyone dumb enough to blame obama for this is probably also dumb enough to blame him for iraq and the economy.

you dont just shut down voluntarily for no reason when you are raking in money. There was pressure because i am pretty positive someone isnt just going cut out millions of dollars per year in your bank account because you feel its time to move from jamaica to go open a resturant.

I don't know. But just because a place closes does not mean the worst. No one on this forum with the exception of Bill, and the SBR crew know the reason. So any predictions from the posters on the future of the industry based off the actions of 1 book... is just that a prediction. So saying things like "the end is near" is just as ridiculousness as saying "Bet the house on Cincy tonite they're a lock!"

I live in Canada so I play at books like Pinnacle, SIA and Bet365 so this doesn't affect me, but I am starting to think this is the end of online sportsbooks for US players. Look at all the sportsbooks that have either shut down or just stopped accept US players, eventually the US guys will have to go to local's or move to Las Vegas if they want to bet on sports. If that won't work move to Canada or Europe.

im sorry but you have to be an absolute moron not to know why they ceased operations.

    only two viable explanations:

    1. they are bankrupt

    2. hostile business environment. and nothing says hostile like republicons enacting -uigea- unlawful internet gambling enforcement act.

I def might be a moron. However, I know of quite a few bookmakers that got out of the game cause they had more than enough cash, were older, and didn't want the stress anymore. BTW it wasn't the Obama admin that enforced the UIGEA and shut down poker.

One of the pinnacles of a market economy is "supply and demand"

I find it highly unlikely that both the capitalists and the mafias will give up on this cash cow. You can use the decades old war on drugs as a good example on the future of this underground economy. It will get more sophisticated and clever at skirting the laws and detection.

If someone moves to Canada or Europe solely for the purpose of online gambling, then this sir is a true degenerate.

The republicans (actually one republican, Bill Frist) are indeed responsible for all of the online offshore gambling sites shutting down due to passage of the UIGEA.

Barney Frank immediately opposed the UIGEA solely because it was a republican bill and promised to repeal it. He had Obama and a solid democratic majority in both houses from 2008-2010 and didn't do a damn thing about it because the democrats really don't give a shit about it either.

Yes, the republicans caused the meltdown of the online gambling industry and the democrats are responsible for the meltdown of the United States of America due to their constant entitlement give-aways.

    Which is worst CrustyCrat?
