Is there anyone that would say their book should not offer something that would benefit them.

No. I'd much rather see them work on free/less expensive payout methods for US residents who no longer receive betpoints than bonuses.

Bmaker.ag would probably be well served to offer a fairly generous bonus for the next few months to help rebuild their brand. Losing that URL will cost them well over 7 figures this football season if they don't do something.

How exactly does one determine that the domain name change will cost them "well over 7 figures"? Just curious.

lost 11K in a year there and they won't offer me anything. I'm going to try to talk to a manager, and if I don't get anything I'm done there. what is a few hundred dollar freeplay to them?

    1. Strictly recreational football and basketball players would not know of the new URL when they went to deposit in the next 4-6 weeks for the football season. They would type in Bookmaker.com like they have for the last few years and see the site has been seized. 99% chance they dont find the new site as it's not like the US govt has left a "we have moved sign" hanging around somewhere for bmaker.ag.

    2. Players that have funds already on deposit would certainly be less likely to redeposit with an outfit that has been the target of a US govt domain seizure. For those that don't "know" the CRIS brand they may think that there is a chance that it isn't safe to play there anymore.

    3. When a newbie or newer recreational gambler decides to gamble online and uses a search engine to figure out which sportsbook to use, he will find bmaker.ag at the top of the google search. (Obviously CRIS has invested mucho money to get the top spot for their new brand) If you had never gambled online which URL would you feel better about sending your hard earned money to? www.bookmaker.com or bmaker.ag? The ".ag" is something very new to US players as most Americans don't even know that a URL can end in something other than ".com".

Not everyone knows the CRIS brand is 100% solid. Not everyone knows that the URL doesn't make the book. Not everyone is privy to the information you and I can acquire through SBR and other mediums that allows us to make the decision bmaker.ag is exactly the same sans a few letters.

Their bonus is that they are 100% solid and that they pay on time, all the time. They don't have to give you a bowl of soup to play there.

I agree with John, what would be better is if they offered some free payout methods to USA players. But apart from that, they don't need to entice anyone to join.

I dont really need a bonus from them, but I will not play there with 20 cent baseball lines. Football comes around, I'll be back!

My question was more along the lines of how you translate all the points you made into a dollar amount of 7-figures. I'm sure those factors did/will indeed hurt their immediate bottom line, I just don't think it's possible for an outsider to come up with an accurate monetary estimate of just how much of an impact the domain change had/will have.

Signed up under a different referral lol. Sucks for SBR.

Oh and Bookmaker settled with me and gave me 500 bet points! A $2.25 bonus for losing 11K. I've already brought it up to $5.25 so watch out.

First of all, I agree. It would be nearly impossible "....for an outsider to come up with an accurate monetary estimate of just how much of an impact the domain change had/will have." That thought is perfectly rational in my mind.

Now, let's assume you are correct and I am an outsider with no information (pretty strong assumption since you don't know me). What amount do you think bmaker.ag will lose in net profit this year vs last year? (Lets assume the ball bounces the exact same this year and they hold exactly the same % as last year.)

BTW, I enjoy the friendly banter. It is nice discussing things with people who challenge peoples thoughts/ideas without making it personal.

It seems like they dont care until everything starts falling and then they will offer 1000% bonus just for you to stay

I have absolutely no idea whatsoever. I wouldn't even know where to begin to try to quantify it... which was basically my point.

As far as the outsider comment, I went out on a limb and assumed you would have mentioned it if you had some inside knowledge of BM/CRIS, not to mention that 99.9% of forum posters likely are not privy to the inner workings of any given sportsbook. If my assumption turns out to be wrong, I'm OK with that.

Right back at ya on your last paragraph. It's very refreshing to find a forum poster who understands the difference between challenging a thought and a personal attack, which is kind of sad, since the difference is usually quite clear.

Without divulging too much info, it's my opinion that low 7 figures is a conservative number, lets just say that.

I look forward to more interaction in the future. In fact, I will start looking for your posts as they will probably offer more insight or creative thinking than 99% of the stuff found in forumville.

May the ball bounce your way. (Unless I have a position on the other side. LOL)

As for looking for my posts, I'm flattered, but you won't find too much insight. I mostly visit SBR for general industry info., to help others with basic knowledge, and to make the occasional sarcastic post for entertainment value.

i understand a lot of people are dumb. just the law of averages. but i also would like to think that in 2011 the average person would be able to google 'what is bookmaker's new address' (or something along those lines) if/when confronted with the DOJ notice.

I would vote that every book should give out better bonuses - but that's their choice, not mine!

Bookmaker isnt a njormal shop.. They take in numbers which is why they charge those high fees for payouts.

I agree completely that a portion (I have no clue what %) of people that go to the old BM site would have the capability to find the new one via search engines. I guess the next thought for me would be... how many of those that have the brains to do the google search would want to seek out an online bookie, at an alternate site, that was obviously confronted and taken down (which would be the outward appearance to casual player) by the US DOJ? I can't imagine that percentage being very high.

Again, for those of us that peruse these forums, we know that the CRIS brand is as strong as ever. But I think forumville only accounts for a very small piece of the customer base and net profits for a book like BM. It's my opinion most punters have no clue wtf happened to beted or bookmaker.
