    Neteller account hacked

    Hi guys
long time lurker first time poster. Just a heads up had my neteller account cleaned out in the space of 10 minutes via a transfer and net plus card transactions by a russian hacking gang.

I know alot of you guys no longer have access to neteller but those who do check your accounts for illegal activity, trust me its not a good feeling.

Basically they got into my account changed my email address, password etc and left me trying to explain to NT staff that my account was compromised, took some convincing believe it or not before it was shut off, hopefully i get some cash back......

to change your e-address they would first need to know your password

was it not a strong one?
do you use the same password at multiple sites?

I had my neteller account hacked last month. They transferred most of my balance to accounts which had finnish sounding email addresses. Neteller found out themselves that something was wrong as they suspended my account before I noticed the breach, and I did get all my money back after a few weeks investigation.

I can't figure out why you would keep money in a neteller account either. Also can you clarify how you know it was a russian gang?

If you're a VIP, they say they will reimburse everything with their fraud guarantee as long as you take the necessary precautions:

I'd rather keep money in an e-wallet than most books.

I find it preferable to withdrawing and then having to pay fees and exchange charges to deposit again when I need to fund a bookie.

They changed this a while back. Now you can log in while traveling from many countries even if you are not registered there and without notifying Neteller. There are certain countries like the US where you cannot log in from but there is a long list of countries where you can log in from.

I started a thread a few weeks ago saying Neteller needed to issue security tokens like Moneybookers. I have a dream one day they will make it happen. Can't wait.

Send any suspicious mail from paypal to spoof@paypal.com. They'll let you know if it's legit or not.

They suspended my account the first time I deposited to Pinnacle, the only other times I have used it were deposits to local books. Just had to verify all my info and the deposit then they fixed my account so I could use it again.

As mentioned earlier, as with moneybookers, its time a crypto key fob was available to Neteller users to add an extra layer of security to accounts. Thanks for the update O.P. it gives everyone a timely reminder to be vigilant.

I assumed russian being they transfered using my neteller + card somewhere using RUB currency i have no idea how they did it other than having a random password that nobody could just guess and its unique to neteller. I had the money in there as i was waiting for a transfer to go through before i withdrew...just my luck.

neteller are investigating at the moment, the problem i have with them was i informed them i could not log in and that i knowwww my log in but they initially refused to help as my email was different to that on my account as they changed it...took a while to get my account shut down 10's of emails and finally a phone call.

So still waiting to find out whats going on i scanned rechecked computer everything clean ...

Hope y'all don't have this prob.
