Changes to domain name information in registry-controlled DNS zones are generally not instantaneous.
Once you make changes to your domain with the registrar you purchased your domain from, the changes will first have to be uploaded to the registry, which will then update its DNS servers with the new information. ISPs DNS resolvers can then pick up this information through a sequence of stages, a simplified version of which is as follows:
    • the DNS resolver queries the DNS root servers for the registry's DNS server information
    • it then queries the registry's DNS servers for the domain's own DNS server information
    • finally, it queries the domain's own DNS servers (which are typically run either by or on behalf of the domain's owners, often by the domain registrar that issued the domain) for the domain's detailed DNS information

So many of these site like poker stars, full tilt kept sending checks cut from american banks. A foolish move in my opinion. The banks are the key here, as well as the c.c. I always get bank of montreal checks and out of country checks from sportsbooks

In addition, restraining orders were issued against more than 75 bank accounts utilized by the Poker Companies and their payment processors, and five Internet domain names used by the Poker Companies to host their illegal poker games were seized.

Worst part in the whole indictment. You can't play if you can't get money in or out. No one is going to want to process payments for US customers now that the Feds are involved.

The timing is impeccable, with two states already passing internet gaming laws. How long before the Government decides they want the sportsbook business too?

The timing should tell you everything. Lots of heavy players vested here in the states. And I don't mean poker players, I mean investors with powerful lobbies.

why is absolutepoker and ub shut down but Full Tilt and Pokerstars still up?

Why doesn't full tilt get Phil Ivey or someone to release a statement telling us whats really going on.

From what I'm reading, they just seized the domain. If that's the case, the sites will just change it. Your money should be fine, but if they've dropped the hammer on 75 banks it may take a while to get out.

You can expect this to affect processors for almost all the sportsbooks since there was a lot of co-mingling. Ironically you might not if you're from the USA because what you had left wasn't available at most of the pokersites anyway.

The only truth I can guarantee that will come out of this is a major battle is about to erupt. Think of the billions of dollars that are now tied up in these accounts. As yourself about how much money the "pro" players on these sites now have tied up? Now think of how many Joe Schmoes have their Bankrolls on there for the hope they can hit the lottery to be the next durrr?

People are going to be butt hurt by this. This will spur action in a major way.

The FBI Seizes The Three Biggest U.S. Poker Websites

The U.S. Attorney for New York has indicted the founders the three largest online poker companies in the U.S. and seized their websites in a major crackdown on internet gambling.

The indictment charges eleven defendants — including the founders of PokerStars, Full Tilt Poker, and Absolute Poker — with bank fraud, money laundering, and illegal gambling offenses.

In addition, the domains for FullTiltPoker.net and AbsolutePoker.com have been seized by the FBI and replaced by this pleasant reminder that gambling is illegal.
The indictment essentially spells out a scheme by the poker companies to set up phony bank accounts to process illegal gambling transactions, either by lying to the banks about the nature of the transactions or by targeting struggling banks to who need the money to stay afloat.

In addition to the criminal charges, the US Attorney filed a civil suit seeking $3 billion in damages. The FBI froze 75 bank accounts and seized five websites, in addition to the arrests that were made today.

The bank and wire fraud charges carry a sentence of up to 30 years in prison
