How safe is to bring back 46K in cash from Costa Rica?

A couple posters brought this up in the talks about Cory should fly down to CR prove his innocence at EasyStreet and collect. What is best to tell customs if they question you about the cash?

Even if you could get a check from that place---would a costa rican bank pay off in US dollars??? I think most of these places bank outside the country.

What makes you think their money is in Costa Rica ?

Do you think they have a safe or something in their office ?
