So I guess IRAQ is the play??

So far in this tourney whenever the public loves a side, going the other way has been the right side. And this one is a public punisher from the looks.

Most book Iraq has gone from +160 to +260...and +309 at 5 dimes!!!

there is good value on Iraq, i see this being a low scoring match, maybe a draw. These teams hate each other.

+309 for the cup holders is huge.

Underestimate the Iranians at your own peril. They hate the Iraqi's more than the Iraqi's hate the Iranians (they fought a bloody 8 year war which Saddam and US instigated). Iranians have a talented squad with the likes of Teymourian (ex Bolton/Fulham) Nekounam (current Osasuna) Shojaee (current Osasuna). They are coached by former LA Galaxy, S Korea and current Shimizu S-Pulse manager Ghotbi. Iran wins this.

Also Iranian side has loads more experience. Mirzapour, Nosrati, Nekounam, Teymourian, Shojaee have played in the 2006 World Cup. Gordan, Talebi, Hadadifar, Khalatbari have played in AFC Champions League.

Maybe back for cards to be shown here. It may turn out to be a volatile encounter. Pride is at stake . Cup is secondary.

Im going under 2 goals. Both teams know that the other group game was a draw so they will be very motivated not to lose. I think this gives us a good chance at 0-0, 1-0, 0-1 or 1-1.

I think this might be a pretty safe bet, but Ive been wrong before.

    Good luck

Defense is much better since Ghotbi took over, TBH I think it's even better than in their quali games for 2006 WC because they are not conceeding many goals. Rahmati is a good goalie, Nosrati is a very experience defender. The avg age of the defenders is around 27 which is not too old and not too juvenile.

I'm betting on this match, red card is a mortal lock ... I am the red card magnet. Going against the grain and going for goals. Iraq under the German coach seem to attack a bit more - their 3-2 match against China showing that in their last friendly. Iran could go fortress-style on D though, probably will happen since I am on OVER 2.

That Iranian players throw ins are longer than Rory Delap's.

    My under's going to pot

Iraq look the better side though. Iran only have long throw-ins and direct play so far.

Iran is a lot more technically talented than Iraq. Iraq's sole strength is long balls just like that first goal.
