    -1 seems square and easy.

Japan outplayed itself against Cameroon and will be brought down against a superior team. Thinking the Dutch will also break out more here after being relatively contained by Denmark. It's like South Korea/Arg.

Also, Japan played teams like Australia
(lost to them 2-1 in one game), Qatar, Bahrainto to qualify...atrocious competition. Now they're playing Netherlands, a top team.

    3-0 Netherlands

NED should win easily, japan got a lucky win against an even more uninspired team than themselves. japans abilities (especially to score) are just too limited.

Holland will smash the Japs. Its not the best Japan side and the Dutch know 3 points books them into the Round of 16.

    Holland 4-0 here

Oranje -1 is the play here, square bet or not.

I'm also liking De Jong to receive a card +250. He always plays on the edge so there's a good chance of him getting a card anyway, but more importantly he already received a yellow card against the Danes, meaning another one against either Japan or Cameroon will get him a one match suspension. Since a win against Japan most likely will mean qualification from the group stages he might take a deliberate card here to avoid the chance of being suspended in the first knockout stage.

Same goes for van Persie btw, so van Persie to receive a card +300 might be worth a small play as well. Not sure if I will take it though, because I could very well see van Marwijk resting him against Cameroon to give Huntelaar a chance, and a single yellow card won't be carried over to the knockout stages.

Hopefully the ball behaves and the Dutch slick passing game dominates

I think that Japan might very well score a goal in this game, the netherlands are traditionally not a defensive team. Tradition is strong in football.

    Both teams to score: +136
    1u

Netherlands had a good first game, as did Japan but this tourney will be a letdown for Netherlands. Everyone is saying how great they are and I can only imagine that they are seriously over-valued.

    Japan +1: +106 1u

The referee gives yellow and red cards (4y 1r in first game). In this tourney it seems that the referee either gives a lot of cards out or none, therefore the play here is:

    Netherlands +1 yellow card: -115 1u

    Over 4.5 yellow cards: +142
    0.5u

netherlands played against denmark in first game and denmark couldn't even attack. so don't let this fool you. japan plays fast and surely they will have possesions against poor netherlands defence. i think over looks good japan will score. netherlands -1 or -1.5 is not a good idea.

    japan are pure rubbish.
don't let their win against cameroon fool you.

there is absolutely no reason to back japan here. even odds aren't that great. they should be at least +1000

I really can not see Japan scoring. They beat Cameroon with the least amount of shots for a winning team since 1966. The Dutch will be all over them like a cheap shirt.

You're GD right. Holland didnt prove their offensive skills against that horrible destructive Danish side, but they still won 2-0. Holland will crush the Japs today. Japs have a good defence but today they will have no chance.

This is from my very novice point of view.

Japan appears to be a very quick team. How much impact if any does that have on a team's ability to win?

It also makes sense to me that if you have possession more than your opponent, then you should score or win more often. But is this true? I watched the Spain game and it seemed like they had possession all game but still lost.

And lastly, it appears to me that the refs have had a very large impact on the outcome of some of the games. Is this normal?

    Joe.

Boring destructive ANTI-FOOTBALL. Both teams are afriad of making mistakes and they are going for the draw instead of attacking and the win. I didnt see that coming. Holland huge disappointment

They've been disappointing so far in the past 2 games, they were lucky to win 2-0 in the last game.
