1) Yes. Big teams playing at home = set-up to push the big teams thru.
2) I liked the tournaments where a team like Poland or Ukraine was hosting. Then, those teams had a fighting chance to advance.
3) Yes, going to 24 Euro teams is too much. The underbelly is too soft. Some European nations (like Iceland) have a super-low population. Try fielding a team w/ population < 2Mill.
4) 16 advancing out of 24 is lame. Group play is supposed to be 2 out of 4 advance. Bitter battles where teams are fighting for every point.
5) Advancing from 3rd-place in group is weak. Some teams already had a foot into the k/o stage. And some could advance w/ ONLY 3 POINTS!

Exactly my sentiment. They are trying to make this the world cup but the weaker teams aren't up to snuff. The world cup when it goes to 48 in north America in 2026 will be a huge problem for competitiveness.

My take on FRI games:
*Either of the 1st two games could easily draw. SWE not too good, and this Croatia team is not close to past editions. Modric is too old, and no Mandzukic (who always used to score).
*3rd game, people will build it up b/c it's contest btw two UK teams that don't play too often. Just based on personnel, ENG should win easily. I might even play it on Betpts.

Croatia is awful. I would not be surprised if they lost. They will try to come out somewhat here but they will be careful knowing they can beat the Scots so with a draw here they get through.

Sweden is Sweden. They really never change. They always struggle to score. Slovakia imo is the better team. Slovakia is a tough team .

England will beat the Scots. Scotland will try hard but they do not have enough. No talent really. Chuck I went to England vs Scotland in 1996 at the old Wembley. What an atmosphere. Was in England for the whole tournament. Incredible stuff.

Scottland is plus 1000. That's kind of absurd. England couldn't even win anything with Gerrard and Lampard and Rooney and Terry and all those guys, they were loaded. I've never seen Scottland play, but I honestly thought about throwing 100 on them just as a dart throw and knowing that England is overrated.

When those two subbed in, it was lights out for Denmark. That's really what talent can do for you in these games. Denmark played their heart out but world class talent took over in the end.
