Belgium will knock the favorite (Brazil) out of the World Cup

Watch and learn kids. I always know the exact moment when Brazil is going home. Time to say night night. No chance Brazil's defense can contain Hazard, De Bruyne and Lukaku. 0 percent.

Belgium to win the World Cup still has value as the outright winner. Just to quote the odds from Bet365:

    #2) Spain @ 5.00
    #3) Belgium @ 7.50
    #4) England @ 8.50
    #5) France @ 9.00
    #6) Croatia @ 11.00
    #7) Argentinia @ 13.00

That's literally what they say about Belgium every big tournament. Belgium is the most notorious choker in the modern era of international football along with England. They completely lock up and are a different team every time they enter the knock-out stages.

The smartest thing to do is to go with proven history. Brazil will defeat Belgium.

Every big tournament? Huh? We we were never this good????

This is the first time we actually expect something from our team. This team played first tournament in Brazil, lost 0-1 against Argentina. Totally unexperienced. Players play now in different leagues and have different status.

Brazil had some troubles during the 2014 World Cup against Mexico, Ochoa had a great game vs Brazil then.

Did you even see Belgium's defense today VS Japan? And earlier VS Tunesia and Panama?

    Brazil -2.5. Easy.

I'm Belgian but fairly sure we stand no chance at all playing like this defensively.

you are falling into the classic trap as to why the majority of sports bettors lose. yeeee old recency effect. you are only looking at this one game. do you honestly think Japan had their respect when both teams took the pitch? no way Jose. once Japan went up 2 nill, then Belgium woke up and look what happened.

I am not saying Belgium will beat Brazil -- I am saying that Brazil has their respect and there is NO way they play as poorly that game as they did the first 65 mins today.

    Book that.

They should start with Colombia which will be hard enough...all of England thinks the road to the semis is clear but Colombia and then Switserland/Sweden is no cakewalk.

No, the problem is they have not learned from their mistakes. Rewatch the Panama game. You'll see the same errors that happened today on the Belgian left side where Carrasco does not rush back whenever he's over on the opposing half and Vertongen is too slow to catch a quick counter. Repeat the Tunesia game. They have the same problems on the right side where Meunier makes the exact same errors (to a slightly lesser degree). Watch some friendlies before the tournament and those problems were there as well. Brazil will give Belgium the ball and take advantage of the space being given by those flanks.

Belgium could solve this by changing to a 4-man defense like they did the last 20mins today...but I doubt Martinez will change their starting line up like that.

I agree the draw "seems" easy but I also think you should all stop thinking you're already in the semis when there's 2 tough teams ahead before you're actually there. Don't think you're there yet because England has had 2 "easy" games so far...I was definitely not impressed by that 2nd half VS Tunesia. Panama was simply a glorified practise game if you're being honest...and the game VS Belgium wasn't a game at all.

You should watch them VS their first decent opponent (Colombia) before making statements like that or you could be in for a very rude awakening.

Na man, that Brazil team was destined to win that cup. That team might have been the best world cup roster in history. Them or Spain in 2010. I don't see why Brazil continues to get love. Look at their roster bro. Those players are nothing special at all. They have one top 6 player (Neymar), and no one else who's a top 25 player in the world. Meanwhile Belgium and France have numerous top 25 players in the world. If France had Benzema and Payet they'd be a lock to win the world cup.

Brazil was ABSOLUTELY the favorite going in, because:

    - In the last 25 int'l games leading up to the Wold Cup, they were 20 wins, 1 loss, 4 draws.

    - outscored opponents 65 goals to 6 in that span!!

    - 19 shutouts!!

absolutely stunning stats for a country to put up. Insane.

I would like to publicly state that Goat Milk nailed this World Cup, generally speaking. Goat, brother, I am pawning my most prized personal possessions to tail your NFL picks my brother. Would love to see you play some college as well. Perhaps some Australian Rules if you can get a read on those matchups as well.

Here's to an action-packed, winner-filled football season (raises my glass to Goat Milk, the matchup king).
