How does Syria still have a National Soccer league that functions??

In the middle of a country wide civil war along with ISIS,Russia and the United States but still are playing games. Even goddam Aleppo has a team and the city has been reduced to a smoking cinder pile. Must be a pain in the ass trying to attend games....Dodging unexploded ordinance...Rebels trying to kill you. Most likely cant even get a good bite to eat in the stadium as all the vendors have been either killed or run off to Greece..

Assad says...THE GAMES WILL GO ON....

Palestine also have a team, so did Iraq during the wars. Syria have a bit more breathing room thanks to the Russians.

Yeah as a national team fo sure. But they have a whole league of 19 teams!!!

Actually the Palestine team is pretty good. I am guessing made up of guys no longer living anywhere near there..Ex pats..

And Aleppo coach should be coach of the year for having them at 5W 3D 1L and 15-3 GD..and 0 players lost to mortar attacks..

During the last Asian cup and qualifiers, only a few were ex pats. Close to half came from west bank and close to other half came from the gaza strip. They had heaps of trouble picking the team up from the gaza strip. Israelis made things difficult for them.

My guess is that's why they play so well.Huge chip on their shoulder(whatever youre opinion is of that whole situation),they seem to lay it all out there on the pitch.
