reports coming in suggesting he has resigned ??
looks like he jumped before he was pushed.

    Roberto Mancini to take over.
Mark Hughes was made aware of his replacement early this morning.

i donno, he won a few Seria A's when the competition was out the league / very weak. I think they should of went for Gus hiddik or sombody more experienced with dealing with top top players.

Hiddink was choice #1 and turned them down. Mancini will have the Citizens playing defense.

    Hughes

    http://goal.com/en/news/9/england/20...-were-going-to

"At the beginning of the season I sat down with the owners and it was agreed that a realistic target for the season would be 6th place in the Premier League, or in the region of 70 points.

"All of this was communicated to the players and we all knew where we stood. Whilst everyone at the club would obviously have wanted to see more wins, we were absolutely on target at the time of my dismissal. Only recently we had terrific victories against both Arsenal and Chelsea.

If ANY of the guys on his team had half as much determination as he had when he was playing - they would have been in a much better position in the table.

Hughes was one of my favorite players of all time .. strong as an ox and would never give up ....

Having watched most of their games the problem was they were regressing and not improving. The defense was in a shambles, injuries or not, and continuously drawing matches is not going to get it done.

If not for wins over Arsenal and Chelsea they would be mid-table at best. No reason why a team can beat those two, draw with Man Utd. (dubious Owen goal in the dying embers) and draw to shite teams like Burnley, Hull, etc.

Inconsistency will kill the best of men.
