    Moneyball for soccer?

I have been watching and analyzing soccer for a few moths now and I think I have a successful new strategy.

Forget acquiring crossers and corner kickers and headers and all that. Keep 4 good defenders and a good goalie, and then get 6 players with the best shot/goal ratio you can. Doesn't matter if they can pass, if they are tall, etc. all that matters is their shot %.

Then blow the whistle and make the strategy once you get in the penalty box shoot low and hard. No pirouetting or penalty flopping, just kick it. The other shooters will get rebounds and do the same thing. SUre there will be counter attacks but the tidal wave of offense will make up for it. Totals for games will double or triple but it could be a way for lesser clubs like QPR or Aberdeen FC to compete cheaply.

sure the other team will have a greater time of possession and screw around trying to win corners and get the perfect shot but plenty of times the moneyball team will break through and get it to the other end

I'm just saying you know how poker players found out that blind hyper aggression can be more profitable than grinding and playing premium hands, but it wasn't obvious before? It could be that way with soccer.

I think you could be on to something by attackers with higher shot/goal ratio than some of the really expensive ones, perhaps the clubs have this data already?

If you have seen the movie "Moneyball", maybe these clubs have the same thinking as the old A's scout team. Wanting to try and compete with these big clubs by playing the same game.
