Dave's Football tips - Blackburn vs Wigan

So another 2 out of 3 to keep at 67%. With 1/2 money back on the Bolton Asian Handicap should have been a solid profit for anyone who followed. Tonight we have the relegation battle between Blackburn and Wigan. Blackburn need to win and win well to maintain their slim hopes of survival while Wigan have been playing at a standard far above their position. With all thats at stake I'm gonna stay away from the SU and PS here. If you have not being following so far, then please listen now as this is nearly over 1.900 with Matchbook and Pinnacle:

Over 2.5 - Blackburn vs Wigan

This line should move quick as Blackburn's games are the most high scoring out of any Premiership team and Wigan have been scoring for fun. Get on it!!

    Should be a good bet.

Overall there have been 49 goals in the 13 Premier League matches between Blackburn and Wigan, an average of 3.77 per game

In addition, the last two Premier League meetings between the sides have produced a total of 13 goals, thanks to a 3-3 draw and a 4-3 Wigan win. 14 of Wigan's 18 fixtures on their travels have seen in excess of two goals, including 13 of the previous 14 - eight of which have contained exactly three. As for Blackburn, they have scored at least twice in four of their last six clashes at Ewood Park, but Wigan too are in fine goal-scoring fettle, after putting four past Newcastle last week. (from the bf previews)

Yakubu has scored five goals in his six Premier League appearances against Wigan Athletic.
Blackburn's top scorer netted twice in this fixture in November, and his tally for the season currently stands at 17 in all competitions. Following his brace against Liverpool, Yakubu has failed to score in his subsequent three appearances, but not since October has he gone four games without a goal.

And the familiar surroundings of Ewood Park should help, having netted all but two of his last 11 at home. Wigan, however, tend to share the goals around, though Shaun Maloney has netted three in his previous five starts for the Latics. The former Celtic midfielder will be available at around 4.2 to score at any time.

Three penalties have been scored in the last two games between Rovers and the Latics

And Wigan are something of penalty specialists this season, particularly when it comes to conceding them. Their skipper, Gary Caldwell, has been responsible for the award of four penalties against his side, more than any other player. But in better news for the Latics, three of those spot kicks were saved and goalkeeper Ali Al Habsi has made four penalty stops in the Premier League this season

Because it is a relegation match, will the defensive tactics not be much tighter?

Ha, ha, exactly right, though Wigan have been great of late. A tight six pointer would normally be expected but a draw means relegation for Blackburn so they have to go for it and they are terrible in defence so I definitely expect both teams to score which would leave Blackburn seeking a winner.

Ya, Yakubu would seem a strong bet for 1st goalscorer or anytime scorer. Just took him out of my Fantasy Football team so hoping he doesn't!!

Over2.5 is 1.71 for now. I personally cannot trust Blackburn. I may take pk with other games. Wigan plays good football right now. I can say that they are quite safe if Win or Draw for them.

Blackburn must win or they will be relegated tonight. Unless they decided that avoiding a defeat is the best result to end their league campaign on a high, then maybe they will adopt a defensive stance.

Blackburn has no realistic chance to stay up and the team knows that.

Blackburn's desperation is why I think you're likely to see at least three goals. Say we have a 1-1 game in the 88th minute. Blackburn has to be reckless with its aggression so it can get that game-winning goal, which could also lead to a transition break-away goal for Wigan. Hopefully the over will hit early so we don't have to worry about this scenario.

Do you think the blackburn players care about relegation though? They probably all have relegation clauses, even if they dont most will be sold so the cheap ass owners can save money. Looking at teams that were relegated in the last few years you see massive turnover by most squads, newcastle is the exception to the rule. Even if they survive its just prolonging the pain of another tough season next year, will remain until the owners invest in the team.

Blackburn are basically relegated anyways. 6 points back of 17th and they have to make up a 6 goal differential... and they have to play Chelsea away in their last game. Wigan wins and they move up to 15th.
