Naturally, our thoughts are with Muamba and his family. He is currently on his way to hospital. The fans from both sides remain inside the area chanting Muamba's name.

    The game has been abandoned.

We will keep you posted as soon as anything is confirmed regarding Muamba or whether the game will continue.

The game has NOT been abandoned as yet, but discussions remain ongoing.

Ok, referee Howard Webb has called the players off the field he decides whether to continue the game given the circumstances.

Muamba is now on the stretcher and off the field, but appears he is still not conscious.

The official match clock has stopped, so I will stop ours. Efforts to resuscitate the player are ongoing.

News over how exactly this situation arose is under some doubt. According to Coyle, who shouted at his physio, "he just collapsed". The crowd are now chanting Muamba's name.

There are fans from both sides in tears in the crowd. If at first there was some doubt regarding the nature of the injury amongst the supporters, that has evaporated.

Oh dear. CPR is now being given to Muamba. Klasnic crossed his chest and Petrov was playing. The entire crowd are silent as Bolton was Owen Coyle makes his way onto the pitch to check for himself.

We've got some worrying images here as Muamba has hit the deck very awkwardly. Physios from both teams run onto the pitch. This looks increasingly serious.
