    Also, in the UK around the holidays there are more games than usual, and the top teams rotate their squads more than usual. The smaller clubs cannot do that so much, so this levels the playing field somewhat.

    Why do people automatically assume that match fixing involves going around to every player and bribing them?! That's obviously not what I meant.

    There are much safer ways to fix matches, it may only involve one or just a few people, or just the referee, or some other way.

    why would a player from a team that is challenging for the domestic title risk so much just for more money?
