Carling Cup day - the battle of the reserves (29.11.2011)

    Chelsea - Liverpool
    Arsenal - Manchester City

Liverpool played Manchester City 2 days ago. It is expected that all 4 teams to completely rotate their starting 11 so it would be tough to have any favorites for these fixtures as it will most likely be "the battle of the reserves".

If I were to actually put my money on anything it would be on Chelsea as they have more dept in squad than Liverpool. With Arsenal it's different, because Wenger can always surprise you with an inexperienced starting line-up averaging 20 years old that plays high quality counter attacking football. The way they constantly bring young ones on the big scenes is quite impressive, probably the best "football farm" in the world. Manchester City have dept in squad and quality obviously but their opponents will have the home advantage so I think this one is very hard to predict.

    Any other thoughts/opinions?

Arsenal-City Over for me. Arsenal has conceded in both their CC matches this year against teams with a lot less talent than City. City on the road are more likely to concede than if this were at home. Gunners will have a younger side, but still have attacking options - however I think their defense is even less than an EPL match with some injury concerns.

Okay and one from me then, Cardiff-Blakburn over 2.5 goals is the bet for me, although I like the rest of the overs as well tonight.

Well cup games are nice to bet overs on, but the stats show 50/50 overs unders for Carling
Cup, so we should choose the best one for tonight, if someone else can enter the discussion it'd be nice.

What does 1/4 and 3/4 mean when it comes to totals? I see 2 1/4 and 2 3/4 at my book. Is that different than 2.5?

    you can google "asian handicap"

basically if you have for example 2.25 it works like two bets: half of your stake is a bet on 2 and the other half on 2.5 It's the same for 2.75 but with two bets for 2.5 and 3

Looking at the line-ups I have a feeling that Man City will trash Arsenal.

Good thing I haven't placed any bets. Everything's gone quite the opposite of what I was expecting.
