Hungary needs a win today on the road to keep alive their slim hopes of qualifying. Moldova is eliminated and have only pride in front of the home crowd to play for. The Moldova side have been leaking goals lately with 13 allowed in their last four competitive matches. Hungary have been pretty solid in qualifying outside of playing the Netherlands. Even then, they showed some spirit with three goals against the Dutch on the road. Since that match, Hungary won a pair of friendlies and scored a road win against San Marino and a big home win against Sweden, 2-1. That win alone could buoy this side forward as they try to stay in the race for qualification. They have played one more match than Sweden and are tied for 2nd with the Swedes. Sweden likely picks up another three points today against San Marino, so Hungary is still up against it even with a win, but is knocked out with a loss.

Hungary beat this side comfortably 2-1 at home earlier in qualifying.
